Apple only has a small fraction of the number of patents that MS has.
I’m not sure how else you can quantify the ‘innovativeness’ of a company, but I’m sure that argueing with random examples isn’t proving anything.
That doesn’t mean that Windows 95 didn’t suck though ;), and I do share your attitude towards MS to a certain degree.
But what would the world have looked like if Apple would have been in MS’ position? I guess we’d have prettier GUIs, but everything would’ve been much more expensive, closed and proprietary. I’m not sure that would’ve been an improvement overall.
