That was very beautifully written!
Wrote some documentation for OpenAL classes in my SilenceEngine.
/**
* Uploads the data present in a NIO Buffer of a specific format and frequency
* into this OpenAL Buffer.
*
* @param data The NIO Buffer containing the data samples
* @param format The OpenAL format of the data samples in the buffer
* @param frequency The frequency of the sound samples (in Hz)
*
* @throws ALException.InvalidValue If the data does not match the format specified.
* @throws ALException.OutOfMemory If there is no available memory to store the data.
*/
public void uploadData(Buffer data, int format, int frequency)
Any good tips for improvement and to write good documentation?
Itâs very verbose, stating the obvious multiple times, leaving out the only non-obvious thing⌠what constants should we pass as âformatâ?
Thanks for the reply @Riven. I have chosen to create an enum called as [icode]ALFormat[/icode]. Is it good enough, or should I revert it and change the documentation?

I think it is okay, or should I write more by taking parts from the OpenAL documentation?
enum is ok
Had to cancel our skiing trip to canada a day before we went⌠:â(

Wrote a bit more on industry insight.

I like it
most fun quote for me:
We are legion, generally worthless, expendable, and thereâs plenty more where that came from.
3 man studio in a bedroom.
XD
Imho: Its good, but totally wrong,
I have mind some time ago: that change all my life and rotate it around 360 degrees.
What you will do if you have billion dollars, how they change youâr current life?
-What you will do? except waist youâr time drink all days, watch tv, or something like that?
If youâr like programming youâr be sitting like now - all day and watch in monitor,
Do you really cares if you sit where you are now, or in Beverly hills?
Same with painting, music creation and many else creativity
You already can do 95% things in world simple in place where you are.
You already where rich!!!
p.s you may think that you hire ppl and they start making games for you,
but youâr wrong its terrible idea
â without good team and experience you lose so many mental health
â because this stupid ppl do all totally wrong ^^
The main idea is: for what you need that billions?
For start programming, or do something that you can start doing now?
Its illusion â that receiving big money you start doing something
that you CAN DO BUT DONâT WANT TO DO NOW?
Nothing will change â but with big money
you have even bigger chance that all become even harder to do
â because you will receive even more ridiculous ways to waist youâr time XD
My ambitions are much more modest⌠I just need to get our mortgage paid off before multiple sclerosis does so badly for Mrs. Prince that I can no longer work for having to take care of her. That is all. Iâve given up on any other ambition than to just make sure we make it to old age with a roof over our heads.
Cas

I just need to get our mortgage paid
I donât say that want making money is bad,
I even fully agree with you that its normal want make money for quiet life.
I want say that if youâr have money for normal living â billions dollars donât change youâr life in better way)
(I most cases =))
And many ppl waiting this biilions for start making someting that they can start doing right now.
You might not realise but 90% of indies arenât even making a half a living, let alone billions of dollars.

The big bucks are in soul draining enterprise application backends. :emo:
I have a horrible feeling I will end up doing something like that in the not too distant future. Been looking for a contract since October⌠no takers though. Suspect I am now largely unemployable thanks to 4 years in the games industry.
Cas
Given the extreme shortage of competent developers, theyâll hire you for a fulltime position in a heartbeat. Lagging 4 years behind in knowledge doesnât cause problems - the world is still mainly SQL based, nothing exciting happening there.
There is a lot happening in the frontend (javascript libraries like AngularJS taking over), but my suspicion is that isnât relevant for you, as youâd prefer the backend - in an enterprice environment.
Contracting might be harder.

You might not realise but 90% of indies arenât even making a half a living, let alone billions of dollars.
I know
I even know that 95%+ app donât make even 100$ dollars for all they living time.
making a half a living
this is big discussion that have evil roots with in )
Tag ânormal livingâ is different for all people
For someone its normal have 10 airplanes and if hi broke one that stop bi normal living for him.
For someone normal living its food and warm house and time for doing what hi love to do)
I donât say that someone throw away all his dreams or something like that.
Simple take a look what youâ doing and think
do you really need billions to start doing what you want?)
or you can start doing it today.
Think about this now - because when(if) you make billions after 10+ years throw away youâr dream,
You may understand how many time you lose.
p.s Its not for someone direct its for every one and for no one ^^
pp.s About Markus â nothing personal but its so painful watch so creative man have dreams, ambitions
â want create interesting and unique games
and now hi have billions
and doing absolutely nothing â sitting all day playing games and watch streams.
Sorry Markus â nothing personal but itâs all I can see.

For someone normal living its food and warm house and time for doing what hi love to do)
Aged 17 to 20?
At that age, you might be at uni and all you need is enough money for a roof over your head, some food and beer.
You get a little older and you want to travel. You just need enough money for a roof over your head, food, beer, a plane ticket per year and some hostel fees.
You want to go out a little more with your girlfriend or boyfriend. Roof, food, beer, travel, and a bit of entertainment each week.
You get a little older and want to have a house - no point paying rent forever. So you need to add a few thousand savings per year for a deposit.
You get a little older and have a kid. Drop the beer and travel. Roof, food, savings, family entertainment and a good education for your child.
If you want to be an indie game developer, chances are youâll have to go back through that last list and choose at least two things to throw out. Thatâs âhalf a livingâ.

Aged 17 to 20?
25 ^^
Thanks for explanation of the term âhalf a livingâ.
(sry some times I not fully understand abstract terms like this)
future Itâs so sad theme (
But you right.
1 kid
2 beer
3 travel
4 Roof
5 food
6 savings
7 family entertainment
8 good education for your child
âŚ
So many possibilities
(what throw away for youâr dream XD)
p.s
That normal throw away something, youâr never will have time for all you want.
This why I say:
âthat discussion have evil roots with inâ
Shi donât give nothing exept billions excuses why you donât do what you want,
You must do this⌠and that⌠and waitâŚ
you must bla-bla-bla
So selfish Lie XDDD
All I want say â I say:
âyou donât need billions money or years free time or wait something
to start doing what you want to do,or at least try it outâ
thatâs all)
And this thread is all about this â we all make what we like and sometime share it ^^
Well I solved the Rubiks cube at least 20 times today during school. I think I have all the moves memorized took me 3 days to learn it all.
Been desperately searching air canada for flights during the first week of easter holidays (The last week of the ski season I found some :persecutioncomplex:

The big bucks are in soul draining enterprise application backends. :emo:
??? I love my enterprise backend work!
