What happened to KevGlass? He always worked on super cool projects and had loads of experience…
edit: and Kappa!
It isn’t easy to be a great ( ) father, a gamer and a programmer (in my opinion).
But sometimes, when I’m not too tired, I had that feeling that said to me: The little angel is sleeping, now you can play. But with only 30 or 60 minutes it isn’t easy to find the right game.
But after more than 16 month without gaming I fulfilled a childhood dream. I build a handheld, now I can play all my favourite old games. (final fantasy 7/8 for the psx, super mario for the snes, aladdin for the sega megadrive, asterix for the master system, pokemon yellow the the gbc, harvest moon for the gba, YuGiOh for the gba etc)
Yes, I build a supergamegirl, a handheld with a raspberry 3, 5000mA battery etc. =)
AND I AM HAPPPPPPPY! In the evening I can play in bed, when I travel with the train I can play … yes that is luxury.
Next plan is to build a Pigrrl Zero. Why? Because I can =)
Kev’s still around (occasional post on Twitter as cokeandcode). He just doesn’t say much

Defined more tree types in vangard, including ancient pine and ancient oak… Chopping down ancient trees is bad karma.
I have added more plant products as well.
Pine trees make pine cones but I can’t think of any practical uses for pine cones. I suppose you could gather lots of pine cones and sell them as firewood bundles.
I read that acorns are poisonous but can be converted into edible food by leaching the toxins out. The downside is they don’t taste very nice but the vikings did eat them occasionally. I guess they are free food for the viking underclass.
Vikings loved hazelnuts so I had better add those tonight.
Added human generation to TF. Spent too much time just watching new types of people spawn
A friend came over today and he ended up doing the same for quite some time as well haha.
This is way too amusing considering the humans don’t do anything but walk around at the moment.
Skin color, hair color and clothing color are all independant, and each characteristic is taken from a spritesheet of variations. It turned out working better than I anticipated in all honesty.
I thought I’d take “a day” to learn how to save and load XML files of settings for a Java app. I chose the theremin I wrote as the target for this. If it is to become a useful program, it should have the ability to allow one to save settings for the various types of sounds it can make, ranging from classic theremin to space ships or the industrial-echo-overdrive effects.
It turned into a three day job. (Could have been worse!) Unanticipated or partially anticipated sub tasks included: getting JavaFX MenuBars working, getting Swing’s JFileChooser working (including dealing with suffixes, warnings for overwriting files) Swing JOptionPanes (seems easier to work with than JavaFX where you have to build your own, AFAIK), and doing a bit of cleanup of my code separating “model” from “presentation”.
Success.
Hazelnuts? Doh. Sure, why not. (I momentarily got them confused with macadamia nuts and was wondering what the Vikings were doing trading with Hawaiians.)
Last night fell asleep after the beginning of what seemed to be a remarkably bad film: “The Norseman”. Newfoundland scenes shot in Florida? Leader Lee Majors with a slightly Southern accent, everyone dressed in horned helmets with big ear muffs.
Native American Indian of CA used to “process” and eat acorns. Can read about them at various parks around here. Am surprised to hear Vikings did as well.
Acorns are quite a widespread food, especially in times of famine, and is a regular part of korean food today. I remember trying to eat them as a kid. My older brother said they were yummy.
Every time I see your name, I think of the quote “Taste Vengeance” :clue: :-\
RUNESCAPE REFERENCE ALERT
(by the way, i think of an armadyl godsword too)
Anyways, thanks to Mr. orange451, I was able to add MD3 animations to this wonderful software rendered engine of mine
After a lot of days, made some more progress on my game, and drawn the king (appears in cutscenes, not in game play):
Left: Vector version in Inkscape.
Right: Original hand made sketch with pen on paper.
I made all the sprites in my game pixel art. I think it looks better because it looks more uniform, and the simplicity matches the backgrounds better.

very nice read. thanks alot!
I’m reading a ton about Nietzsche relative morality, among other things. I’ve done a lot of thinking and I’ve come to a point where I hold the belief that someone’s personal definition of morality and worth completely stems from how they place their wellbeing relative to others, which in turn stems from their biologically defined affinity for remorse, or how in other words how an action that affects another person affects your state of mind. It’s a really really interesting thing to think about. I find myself going around in circles in my head doing so, discovering more and more rational paths of thought related to this subject and I always come to this conclusion. Sorry that this isn’t exactly related to this forum’s subject material, but I had to write it out somewhere.

Implemented an occlusion culling algorithm i thought about in the morning, doubt it’s original but here’s a gif of it working
NOTE: yes I purposely made it not render behind a alpha tested texture.
