What I did today

Spent this morning setting up an external GPU for my macbook pro. Using a GTX 960 connected by a thunderbolt cable I went from 40 fps to 200 fps in my java fps engine!

This is going to be quite useful when I am out of the country for two months.

Got this in the mail today and just finished solving it! It took a good hour or two, was a lot of fun. As with the 7x7 and gigaminx, I’m sure my solve time will be halved the next time. Something about the first solve seems to take a very long time even when it’s just a larger version of another puzzle.

How many of such cubes would you solve for me if I paid you $0.02 an hour?

Started experimenting with android again after the last attempt failed. Now I understood how to change orientation programmatically, and also initialization of a OpenGL ES 3.0 context. Working pretty good on my One Plus X.

There you can see my cute app with a red background!

I implemented environment mapping in OpenGL (LWJGL)

Here’s a pic!

Hm… 7.

Routed the arcade cabinet’s wood for T-molding. I got the t-molding here: https://www.t-molding.com/
Next step is painting! I made a crappy picture of what the cabinet will look like when its done…the game on the screen is Dodger Dog.

Turns out the creators of giant cop are local in my city, so I called and I may be getting an internship with them for the summer!

Did a little experiment and compared few different implementations of pseudo random number generators, for example above you see path drawn with Java built-in generator.

UPDATE: I added possibility to see a path being drawn in real time, few iterations every frame… This is really hypnotizing.

I changed my work (well, area of responsibility, same employer) three weeks ago and while I really like where I am now, I have no personal time anymore (7:30 - 16:45, but actually open ended).
Guess I have to find a better work / leisure balance…

-ClaasJG and a small internet complainment

Hey everyone!! Today I implemented something I’ve been putting off for YEARS and holy Jesus I could not be happier that I finally put it in. It was easier than I was expecting and looks so stinkin’ good in the game. Basically,

Dynamic 2d shadows! I’ll post something on the devlog soon about how I accomplished it. I’m so stoked about how it turned out!!

Looks great! Super realistic looking if you ask me

HOW DID YOU DO THAT?! I MUST KNOW!!! What’s the input??? That really looks like 3D shadow mapping!

hahah I appreciate the excitement ;D I’ll do a detailed post tomorrow after some sleep going over the process. No actual 3d involved

In case any of you still remember, my band recently released our first recorded single. Here’s the music video!

Watching and leaving a like really helps if you actually do like it!

Reminds me a lot of me and my bands! Sounds good man, which one is you?

That would be the one in the back playing drums and trying too hard to look cool!

Let me know if you’re ever coming to Chicago, maybe we could set up a show

While experimenting with the WebAudio API, I made a little toy that’ll play a sound when you type. Press 1, 2, 3 and 4 to change the octave.
Here it is

nice one!
