Get a kid! (which also comes with no free time anymore - until it moves out ;P)
@cylab you say “it” like a kid isn’t a human. Are you talking about a human child or a young goat? Young goats are called kids.
Let me guess. You’ve never had a little monster have you?
@ShadedVertex LOL. No, at least my daughter is a human being But this might be a good example of language barrier. I am german and in our grammar we have three definite articles for a male, female and neutral gender. In the german language a child has a neutral gender, hence I said “it”. No offense or judgement intended…
I was just kidding, bro, of course it was human. Oh no, I said “it”!
I’m Indian, but at school I learn Chinese as my second language. In Chinese, we have three definite articles for male, female and neutral genders too. In Chinese, we refer to people (child or adult) using the appropriate article (he/she, him/her, his/her), not using “it”. For inanimate objects and anything other than humans, we use “it”. Like in English, I guess.
Sure does! Is it just me or does it seem a little like the first RayMan game? :point:
Today I finally managed to push out some “portal” site, that hasn’t been updated in two years, out into prestaging after two days of fighting with it. Today was the first time I actually wanted to go home because it was just so damn frustrating, but now it’s over and all I have to do is find someone who actually has access to the tool because everyone forgot their damn passwords, so no one can actually access the site right now! Yay for organization and actually maintaining software!
Blah.
Watched Linode do maintainance & a reboot of a Xen host. No need to panic people, JGO is here to stay
I use linode as well O:
I decided to try and implement a depth-sensitive edge detection filter, and it went pretty well (click for full size):

Small problem with this is if I lower the threshold the lines get more consistently thick but then another noticeable error occurs when looking almost parallel to a wall, and if I raise the threshold that error disappears but the lines get less consistently thick.
You might want to take the normal into account:
Based on the plane defined by the depth and the normal you can compute the expected depth variation and take that into account.
This. THIS is what I do with all the years I have spent learning. Edit: I also apparently can’t spell potato.
How did you go about making it? The results are impressive. I’m curious.
Day 23 of working on my Scene/Event/Dialogue/Cure-all component engine for my game.
Running low on water.
Save me.
Boarded an airplane, for science. :point:
Finally started moving on from Java’s serialization. Reduced my packet sizes from 1kb to 52 bytes! Now I can send more data with my packets! Although I don’t need to, but whatever. ;D
Went to the midnight release of Star Wars about 11 hours ago.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.
One question that I hope can go on the open forum… If Empire Strikes Back was 8/10, and Phantom Menace was 1/10, how does the new one rate?
I mean it might be the hype talking… but I enjoyed Force Awakens more than I enjoyed the original trilogy.
It takes a lot of stuff from previous movies and improves upon them.
EDIT: Put spoiler tags in case anyone doesn’t want to see that.
Just look on IMDB. The ratings there have always been pretty much to the point what I personally felt a movie deserved.
