What I did today

It’s just annoying really. They’re upsetting a large portion of their users that really don’t give less of a shit, they just want to read their AMAs and AskReddits. What’s going to kill me, is when r/nosleep goes down.

If /r/hardwareswap goes down I might have a shit fit… I find a lot of cool stuff on that sub.

It’s a total waste of time and space, one notch above 4chan. Which isn’t saying much.

Cas

Ah, I’ll put it my twitter box right next to pinterest

…while I’ve got the box open, I’ll toss in 4chan, whatever that is…

Bless you, innocent one.

I remember when I use to enjoy browsing reddit :frowning: all that site is now, is a bunch of people looking to witch-hunt. I still use the site to stay up to date with all my favourite topics, I just never venture into the comments

Took a morning run after ages of not doing any physical exercise. Someone please kill me.

NegativeZero and I have built a 1-bit full adder in a minecraft server I setup.
A and Carry-In are on, thus Out is off and Carry-Out is on. (Click for full resolution)

Hehe another update… we just finished an 8-bit full adder:

Just uploaded my second timelapse. I have a little problem with aabb colision any tutorials on colision?

Ahaha that’s funny, that little document you pulled up about AABB collision detection is something I made. I’m pancakesimone on YouTube. It’s so strange to see people on here that have watched my videos!

I fought the bug and the bug won. :frowning:

got fed up with java 7 utf8 de/encoding tools and wrote my own, which are faster and generate no to little garbage. \o/

Well I now know what the bug does, but not the cause. I’ve stopped it doing any damage but if I don’t find the cause its bound to cause more trouble.

Got frustrated by how:

  • restrictive consumer zip programs are
  • horrible every API is for manipulating zips is

All I wanted to do was set the execute flag for a .sh script inside a zip intended for linux users…

At the lowest level, all that needed to be done was change 2 sets of 2 bytes (‘made by’ and ‘external attributes’) in the appropriate file’s central directory header entry.
Wishful thinking… I’ve not found a single zip API that allows you to manipulate a zip file header in situ.

Java’s own zip API is atrocious; lacking functionality (can’t set either ‘external attributes’ or ‘made by’), & hopelessly outdated.

I then tried the newer stuff; mount the zip as a FileSystem, and modify the file’s attributes using PosixFilePermission.
HA! Unfinished pile of ****; all you get is an UnsupportedOperationException.

Apache’s implementation is functionally more complete, though its documentation is practically non-existent and it’s still far too inflexible, requiring the zip to be essentially reconstructed from scratch, de+recompress every damn zip entry.

It works… but it’s so incredibly inefficient.
I hate wasting time on such frustratingly trivial issues that have fallen between the cracks of abstraction.

The pizza I had last night was definitely not well made and I felt sick the entire night. When I finally fell asleep, I had some extremely psychedelic dreams concerning a purple glowing clone of me created by selling my soul to some weird entity, who was trying to replace me and steal away my daughter (I don’t have a daughter), so I bit him in the face. I then found myself locked up in a big house with several other people and a man trying to make put on some headphones that I just KNEW were drugged and refused to wear due to already feeling drugged and groggy. It then turned out we were being used for cancer research and we broke out the main door and sat down on the road outside. Eventually the police came and I tried to escape.

Aaaand then I woke up in my 40 degrees Celsius hot room at 4 in the afternoon, my entire body hurting, feeling confused as f**k and panting like an animal. The sun came up at around 4 in the morning (Sweden sucks) and shone right on my window for 8 hours straight. Since our houses are made to stand our -20 degrees winters, they’re extremely well-isolated, so my room essentially turned to a greenhouse. This morning was much warmer than usual.

Heat strokes or whatever the hell that was fucking sucks.

Another couple of Java FM synth patches built, yesterday and today. (If you are Yamaha DX7 buff, I got a halfway decent Torim working (classic Bo Tomlyn patch, would be better replica but I haven’t implemented pitch level scaling) and a favorite of mine from a fan magazine that has hammer dulcimer qualities.) Slowly am assembling an old sequencer cue I wrote for a documentary back in the 1980’s. The video had a lot of zippy graphics in it, very “high tech” look of the time. (It was a a scholastic thing for UC Berkeley, School of Design, didn’t get any commercial exposure that I know of.)

I had an image last night of lots of “note material” fragments floating around like tiny asteroids, and the “game” being pushing them into slots on larger, spinning asteroids, each of which is playing as much of the its particular sequence as has been assembled so far. Volume levels determined by proximity as the spinners move around on the screen (through space).

Kind of vague still. Main thing, because the “score” is procedural, there is a lot of flexibility in how it would/could be assembled. I want to exploit that capability. Need to get back to working on fade/envelope controls for the sequences, and a more flexible way to proceed partially through the sequences instead of loading each entirely from beginning to end for each iteration.

Am also doing about 10 sample questions a day on a Java Cert program. Amazing what you don’t need to know (and still are tested on) in order to program. And, need to keep hacking on new website design. And Android study.
Overload! :stuck_out_tongue:

I think you should definitely make an RTS game about your dream ;D

@agentd : i feel you! 95 fahrenheit over here - didn’t sleep much too. if i’d get dreams like that i would have tried more tho’
