I think that heterosexuals and homosexuals should have the same rights everywhere in the world.
I think that religions shouldn’t try to have an influence on politics by any mean, your religion or your absence of religion should be only your own personal matter, it should be just between your god(s) and yourself, it shouldn’t concern the rest of the society, the public institutions shouldn’t have to deal with non democratic rules decided by a few people, including religious rules and the voted laws should always have a bigger weight than the religious “laws”. This part of my opinion is more or less in the frame of French-style secularism.
I think that religions are mostly useless and a source of trouble but they won’t disappear by the constraints. You can’t force people to stop believing. I’m not completely narrow-minded, I won’t force my children to stay far from religions but I will allow them to get baptized (if and only if they want) when they have at least 18 years old.
I’m not sure that JGO is the right place to talk about that, feel free to put my reply into the chitchat monster.

In my opinion there shouldn’t be a question about does religion go too far, the question should be whether religion should be allowed, because it makes people go dumb.

Oh my god trollwarrior… I don’t enjoy religious people because most of them use their God as an excuse to everything. God told me to do this, you should let me get away with it. God created the universe, screw science with all its facts. However, it doesn’t make people stupid. How do I know? My grandfather is the youth minister at my church and he really is a great funny energetic and SMART guy.
Religion isn’t the problem. It’s how you use your faith that determined whether or not you’re the problem.
As for gay rights, who the hell has the right to say that two people cannot be together? Whenever someone brings that up I always feel like we are back in the 1940’s when the Nazis pretty much killed off the Jewish population in Germany because why? They were Jewish. It sickens me.

Anyway, about gay rights and religion. I always respect that religion has been around for generations. It is ingrained in our societies just as much as breathing or eating. It is always a topic each person in a society will have to deal with sooner or later. In all honesty, people need to be able to make their own decisions. As long as people aren’t harming nature, the environment, other people, or themselves, I personally have no problem with what people want to do.
The internet has seriously broadened my understanding of different cultures. Most people just want to live in peace and work to progress their lives. Religion in the good sense helps people cope. However, it is when beliefs of one religion are pushed on others where I think that we have to step back and respect boundaries.
Anyway, me, coming from the US doesn’t really help anything. There is so many controversies of gay vs non-gay that seem to fester out of control here. People keep pushing the boundary between church and state so thin. It causes so many discrimination issues that fully point at religion.
But hey, America has gotten way too good at pointing fingers… Someone has to take the blame. :persecutioncomplex:

Been on quite a few forums that have blocked the word Jew, when really it just short for “A Jewish person”.
I don’t know, thats kind of weird. The word that censored out above isn’t a bad word… Its the idea behind the word. Words and books shouldn’t be censored for what they are, the people who use them should be censored.
Being fair, how is N A Z I blocked but I can happily say shit, dick, cunt, asshole? Really that needs to be re-thought, I believe this is a family board and is rated 13 and above. There should be filtering, I am Scottish and I use the F and C word at least once per sentence even if I am asking for the time but I believe that in a community like this, it should be controlled to a degree.
Then again, it is good to be on a forum that allows freedom of speech.
The word nazi is just blocked by default in SMF. I had nothing to do with it, and will some day get rid of the blacklist. Meanwhile there are a dozen ways around it, like I just showed.
