The cop is ready, not yet animated but textured. I will make another build tomorrow morning (at 10 o’clock French time). I try to learn how to use Blender in order to be able to fix minor problems to avoid bothering my artist with these. The cop was a 3DS model but there was something wrong, I had to convert it because I suspect JME 2 to remove the textures when converting 3DS models into JME binary models. Good night.
just for you to know blender sucks a lot with 3ds… it …
- remove smooth groups
- remove a lot of materials property
- remove camera
- duplicate some chunks
- change object size (probalby pivot & hierarchie too)
- and finally sometime/often create file that are invalid when trying to load them with 3ds max…
blender 3ds plugin is really bad
Hi!
Thank you for this precision. I get an error message when I attempt to convert anything into 3DS format lol. Therefore, I will use MD2 and MD3 formats for the animations.
The new build is available, the first animated enemy of TUER has just been added ;D The artificial intelligence is not ready so he is very silly.
I hesitate in adding some sounds with my classes relying on JavaSound.
feels like half life 1 with aliens and slow motion police mens =D
good stuff
btw the left weapon, the silver desert eagle or what it is… when I move far away from it, the texture seems to change to rainbow colors =o
julien your first compliment ever!
I am gunna check it out now. Is it the experimental? I juet try both
I really liked it!
when will the game actualy become playable with JMonkey? I am phyched to see what it will be like
cylab has to fix the annoying bug under Vista. This version has to become playable (it will replace the old one with ugly sprites and limited gameplay) and as you can see below, I’m adding new stuffs :

I have some problems with the AK 47 and the shotgun. When I convert them from .blend into .obj, the colors disappear. I have found some motion captures (.bhv), maybe I can do something interesting with this.
Chinese politicians will have an excellent reason to ban my game…

Not that they need an excellent reason to ban something… =P
careful, there might be some chinese who managed to escape there who are reading this.
Hi!
I have a very bad piece of news, my hoster is dying, I have to put my website somewhere else as soon as possible, it will require some time. When it is done, I will go on developing TUER of course.
wow that sux, form what?
Tuxfamily is an association, its members are tired and no more motivated. The FGF sends them some money when it is possible but it is not enough. I have put everything (except the FGF players’ portal) on http://tuer.sourceforge.net and the experimental version is now on http://tuer.sourceforge.net/experimental/tuer.jnlp. I have to update lots of links to my pages.
ohh, ok… well I read that FGF is dying, that’s not that good.
The FGF players’ portal will be “merged” with another existing portal if possible (I don’t know any Java gaming portal on Facebook :s) but the FGF itself goes on existing, the problem is that I don’t know where I will put it. The FGF is not only working on this portal. Thank you for your interest.
Hi!
The word “holidays” disappeared of my wordbook when I began working on TUER in October 2006. I’m still working on the collision handling. When it is done, I will have to write something to ease the creation of new maps for my game because lots of people are complaining about the unique ugly level.
like a map editor ?
I mean you should have something like that eventually, because YOU have to create maps yourself, so… ^^
Hi!
I need several tools including a map editor, a script editor (to ease the configuration of the artificial intelligence using a finite state machine) and an automatic deployment system (a tool that compiles the source code, produces the data files, packages the resources and sends the whole thing to a (S)FTP server).
However, I need some time to implement the collision handling before working on any editor. I’m currently modifying the export of maps in WaveFront OBJ format so that each wall can use a different material. Then, the converter to JMonkeyEngine binary format separates walls that use different materials and it allows me to test collisions with each wall composing a cell.
hey Juien, I know this has nothing to do with your project, but I am just a little curious.
Don’t you have problems with your girlfriend/family with this ? I am asking it because when I was programming like 3 hours/day my girlfriend got very jealous of Java, and I guess she was right… I think I was wasting too much of my time in a hobby .
Don’t u feel that sometimes your hobby is taking over your life ?
