seems that there is still the problem on some page with image on ie6 replaced by blue square
@DzzD: got it! I will fix it later today - I should have taken GIF instead of PNG…
@RXM9600: The list displays the top rated games for ratings done within the last 28 days. It gives new games a chance to make it into the list. On the other hand, there are not that many people rating games, so a single 10 point rating can get a game into the list…
Could make it that it will only show games with at least 3 votes or so.
OK, it’s done - only games with 3 or more votes within the last 28 days (4 weeks) are counted! Right now, the only game rated 3 or more times is “Craigs Race”. I guess, happy rating all the other games ;D
Hi, would be nice if the list of games on title page contained game description instead of latest news about the game. I think the current texts are confusing for most people who just want to list through available games.
Yeah, I second that. “Initial upload” or “final build” don’t really make sense to most people.
I did another Java Game Tome update! I translated it to German. Also, I got some people working on Japanese & Chinese ;D
Anyhow, if you like to get your language in, let me know! I got a template ready. All you need to do is to translate it to your language and I’ll plug it in…
Funny PWO is the top game yet the Java alpha version hasn’t had a public release for a while now. So guessing people been voting the current VB version heh. I shall release a update for it soon when I’m not so busy.
If it is not already done, send me the template and I will do it to French.
Nice effort, though what about games’ descriptions? Isn’t it weird to have localized site with english content? I’m more for full or nothing when it comes to localization, otherwise it looks just weird.
BTW, would be nice to add next/prev page links at bottom when browsing through list of games.
I agree, translating everything would obviously be better. On the other hand, the only thing that’s really missing now is the game description. I got several ideas.
- telling people to input the description in multiple languages. The description field allows you to write your description in other languages.
- telling people to enter the description in English and have a translation program (google) run through it depending on the language selected
- having volunteers translate the description to other languages
@gouessej: thanks, I sent you the file that is in need of translation
@jezek2: I’ll add the prev/next button to the to do list…
- won’t work, because people are lazy and generally only speak their native language and english
- would certainly produce funny but not very accurate descriptions
- could be a way, but the translations have to be reviewed
Great game database!
I will submit my game RanaRemake, if you please.
Regards.
Paco.
RanaRemake is online ;D
yes and it looks pretty cool. I’ll try it soon.
Thanks! I’ve recieved a mail of notification
I noticed that the field “Change Text” (quoted as “Describe the change of this version”) it’s displayed in the list and I wrote only “First release” I didn’t find any way to modify this text, is there any way to change the game profile?
I expect that it likes you, it’s my first game Thanks for try it
Regards.
Paco.
The “Change Text” field isn’t really useful for initial game submissions. Once you submit updated game news, you write in there what’s new, but for a first submissions it’s not needed. I am still tweaking the system, so I will probably remove that if you submit new games…
First game I tried popped up an HTTP auth box for “jgametome.com” when I clicked the Play button. WTF?
Second game I tried - the “highest rated” Pokemon online - kept stuttering the music every 1-2 seconds on the menuscreen, and then when I “regstered” it asked me where I wanted to save the real game to, which presumably it was about to download.
They have got to be kidding :).
RanaRemake, as I just noted in the other thread, requires much manual messing-around to make it run, and then apparnetly crashes anyway.
I know this is not the fault of the people who run the JGT, but I wonder if you guys could suggest something on JGT right now that is a) fun and b) works straight off?
Thanks!
hi kingaschi!
i am looking through the tome every now and then and this time i found some bad links (to other sites) but there’s no way to report them. or is there?
the developer site for this game seems to be down: http://www.javagametome.com/game.html?id=119
are you still keeping the images in DB? it’s a shame there are few screenshots and even less good ones. it makes the games look worse than they are.
as for translations: yes, that would be nice, but i guess having more high quality content (per game, not more games), would pay out faster, i think.
just my two cents.
you’re doing a good job and your enthusiasm shows!
I agree, it would be nice to have a reliable Java site. I think it would help Javas reputation and also be an insentive for people to return to the site.
