I have tried it and it works under windows without installing anything else.
I submitted a press release about the Java Game Tome and it seems it got picked up by some of the media:
Now might be the time to submit your game, if you haven’t done so already ;D
Thank you. The dll are directly inside the JAR, I have just seen them a few minutes ago.
Nice! I voted thumbs up on both articles.
That’s very cool! I wasn’t sure if anyone would actually be interested in the Tome ;D
Is it possible to integrate a mail alert when one of our game has a comment or a new rating.
Let me put it onto the to do list. I don’t want to spam people, so I will leave it turned off by default.
Yeah would be perfect
there is a little issue on my computer(xp pro) with IE 6.0 on the index page there is some blue square in place of every game picture.
all work fine with FF 2.0
IE can’t do transparency in png images, and it looks like the tome is surrounding every image with a frame by using a slightly larger transparent png image with the frame in it.
That’s a problem indeed. For IE6, the problem shows up.
In my book, adapting your website to every possible browser is possibly overkill, but Firefox, IE7 and IE6 should be catered to.
Considering IE6 is quite widely used, still.
Might as well take the time to plug “multipleIEs”.
Let’s you install several old Internet Explorer’s, very good for compatibility testing. I’ve heard though, that these versions don’t represent the truth, but to what extent I don’t know.
Every bug I’ve read about from other IE6 users has showed up in the multipleIEs versions. So I’ve only had great experiences with it.
Can confirm same problem with IE5 also…
About the IE problems with png:
I think the problem is only there when using alpha layer transparency, single bit transparency should, to my experience, work fine with .png.
Suggestion:
I think there should be a number of ratings on a game before it is worthy of being in the top of the “Top Rated” catagory. Right now the authors (or someone else, but lets face the truth ) votes 10 for their own game putting new games in the top of “Top Rated”. Perhaps some kind of algorithm to adjust games based on their number of ratings aswell might be a good idea…
I hope that made sense

Just a heads-up to what’s happening to the Java Game Tome: The Java Game Tome has reached 100 games! Over half the games has 100 hits & 100 plays. The top games have over 2000 hits/plays. Feel free to submit your games if you haven’t already done so…
;D
Good to hear!
I love the game tome!
and yeah, the game tome has about 450 page loads/200 users per day in average… ;D
I recently changed the name of my game, what should I do to update the Java Game Tome post? It seems as if you used the name as the ID in the database?
Send me the name and I’ll update it manually (it’s not the ID, but I figured it’s better to keep it fixed).
Fix your top list, its all random and doesn’t make any sense :
