Rougelike fun

Hi to everyone.
I’dl like to know what do you consider exciting about rougelike as gameplay elements as genre (permadeath, dungeons generation and so on…)

Building a good equipment set. I.e. combine items to have a set of mximum effciency for my chosen playstyle (which depends on character and class).

Having many strategic options and also a lot of possible game situations is in my opinion what makes makes rougelikes interesting and replayable.

Knowing that any misstep will result in a restart, tension is always high and victory is always exciting. Also, a good rougelike doesn’t kill you in BS ways, if you die it’s your fault.

I’m interested in hearing more about “rougelike fun”.
Am blushing at the possibilities! :o

Lots of depth and content, but not overwhelming. If it is overwhelming, it’s usually not very fun for a beginner.

And spelling roguelike correctly is always a good start.
