Requesting your feedback :)

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of making a 2D Physics Puzzle games with lots a levels, basically the Objective is A meets B kinda.

There would be 2 objects A and B on the level and you have a Gun from which you can Fire different kinds of balls. Like a Heavy Ball which doesn’t bounce that much, A Ball which bounces a lot and floats on water. A ball which is always floating upwards like a balloon or something … and using these you have to do some random stuff to make Objects A and B touch each other.

So that said wanted to know what you people think about the game any ideas or features that you guys would like to see implemented in the game ?

and also what kind of Graphics Theme would suit the game like we had Crayons for Crayons physics etc ?

any advice and suggestions are highly welcomed …
Thanks a lot people

I think the idea sounds interesting and fun.
Definitely post some work in progress shots or trial, Id love to see it in action.

No real comments about features until I see what there is or isn’t thou :frowning:
Any theme at all is fine for now, just misc programmer graphics until you get the game rolling is great.

Are you going to use lwjgl or jbullet or what for your physics and graphics backend?

For physics backend I am using JBox2D and for Graphics Pulpcore =)
looking for a Network Library if anyone can suggest one …

KryoNet is a really nice network library.

Thanks. I’ll check that out

Also I heard someone say yesterday that Java Applets cannot be embedded as FaceBook Applications. Is that true ? :frowning:
That could cause me a lot of problems and re-think everything :frowning:

It not impossible but it’s complicated. At Slick forum there is even some little tutorial how to put game to facebook. http://slick.javaunlimited.net/viewtopic.php?t=3309 check this.

I too had the same inquiry to post Java applets on Facebook. There are a couple threads on this forum that explains how, let me look…

EDIT: Found some links:

Hey thanx a million for the information

Glad to help

Your ‘a meets b’ explanation really explains your game perfectly. Typically with nothing to show, explanations can be a bit hazy, but it comes across perfectly. So I’d suggest you take that as far as possible; call it “a to b” and put an ‘A’ and ‘B’ on each ball.

Those Facebook pages are very outdated. The REST API was deprecated a year ago, use the GRAPH API now.
Just get your game to run in an applet and use the iframe method.
I found the JS and PHP lib easier to work with than the Java ones.
The widest you can make the applet is 760px, height is unlimited.
Hope that helps.

Is that sarcastic ?? :frowning: I am sorry, I am still at a very very initial stage of development wont have anything to show for around 2 weeks :frowning:

Hey thanks … I’ll look into that as well =)

No, it was a serious suggestion.

I’ve seen plenty of game ideas threads online, and usually the core ideas are not very well explained. Again with the explanation you gave I understood it perfectly.
