Playing with car physic & 3DzzD Update 11
Do you intend to make the window bigger?
yup, video option will enable a bigger window as well as switch to JOGL rendering
Any chance of a “proper” race track?
for sure, as soon as possible
…car handling a little less drifty…
arf sry, not sure I well understand this sentence, could explain what that mean ? what is drifty ?

I’m not really sure, but the handling feels a little to slippy and “on ice” to me. But I’m not sure what you’d adjust. It might be the relatively long duration of accelerating - maybe make acceleration kick in quicker but fall off quicker too?

ha ok maybe it is related to turn speed ? the wheels take some time to be fully turned. if you dont move the car (and camera is not behind) and turn you can see wheels turning slowly maybe this speed is too slow, that’s it , no?

Nothing really new here, Just trying to make a playable level, time counter is still missing.

Cool, little game.
But you might want to offer to respawn. I fell of the edge a number of times heh.
I’m finding the game sometimes freezes for 1 sec.
Oh and hard to reverse, spins out a lot even at a slow speed.
Maybe a auto flip if the car is on its back.

Would be very cool game to have multiplayer

I really like the demo. Reminds me of Rush for those who have played it. The controls feel like they turn too quickly. I think the game looks very good not sure if its possible but I think it would only be better at a higher resolution. Best of luck making a game out of this demo. highly anticipated!
sure if its possible but I think it would only be better at a higher resolution
It should be difficult to get a higher resolution in software mode (or only for fast computer), I will add the hardware switch possibility to enable higher resolutions, but this one requiere about 1mo download. anyway it is designed to be a little web game that you can play from anywhere when you get some free time.

hehe, dont really know now

I think I like the handling better in road2.

ROAD5 updated, I tried to improve the control, and reduce gravity

http://demo.dzzd.net/ROAD5/

Well I had some friends try it after the test and they didn’t fall off the edge too fast so I’d definitely say the controls are better.

I know this might not be what you’re going for but I think it would be awesome to be able to get score for doing flips and such off jumps in a freestyle room. Just something to think about if you finish race.

missed

level update :

 • more objects and more difficulties
 • different control, should be better…

some debug/improvment :

 • Review of collision class wich was not working properly and cause physic engine to had too much “grip”.
 • Little bug on 3DS loader related to camera load.

Those boxes make it harder when they blend into the road :-
But I found that ramps are sometimes acting like walls (doesn’t matter where you are on the ramp).

difficulties add some more interrests to the game no ? maybe I should change those materials to make them more visible.
probably an other problem on the physics, any chance plz, to get a screenshot ? I would like to be sure that I am thinking of the same bug as you.

does anybody have some good idea to improve fun ?

EDIT:

nothing related but, need to put this somewhere, so…
I just discover that youtube enable HQ mode to play video by adding &fmt=18 or &fmt=6 on the URL:
Original : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=5_Qhcb9Gfzw
High Quality: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=5_Qhcb9Gfzw&fmt=18

add a chronometer, really dirty for now, but I can do my first score !

http://demo.dzzd.net/ROAD7/

what do you think about this level ?
But I found that ramps are sometimes acting like walls
yup I saw that now…

Very nice.
Boxes are still hard to see on my end, but it does make it a little harder because of it.
Oh I didn’t noticed you still had the holes till I fell :o

update 8!!

level & gameplay update :

 • try to make it prettier…
 • camera is closer to the car

3DzzD engine improvment :

 • once again complete review of collision class wich was not working properly
 • implementing a faster lighter & texture mapper for software renderer.

3DS used for this level can be downloaded there :
http://demo.dzzd.net/ROAD8/ROAD.ZIP

Applet can be downloaded here
http://demo.dzzd.net/ROAD8/APPLET.ZIP
you can change the 3ds file but you must keep the following objects :
WBL
WBR
WFR
WFL
CAR
SKY
FINISH
Camera01
Oh I didn’t noticed you still had the holes till I fell
still there

nice work.

I just hapened to hit the corner of an object

http://users.on.net/~bobjob/temp.jpg

i thought the wheels were funny

Good stuff! Has that micro-racers feel.
I’d like the car brighter and the steering looser…

Looking complete now. The only problem I could find is that once when I hit a create at fast speed the car got all glitchy and then the screen turn black.
Also whats stopping anyone from driving on the grass then the track? I don’t see the grass slowing the car down atm.
