Ouya - Oh yeah?

Hey, you! I wanna start a discussion :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you seen the new console “Ouya”?
They want to run android on that console. Guys from the XBox and others are working together to create such a console. I’m pretty intrested in your thoughts.

I personally think this is an awesome step for Linux/Android. I want linux to compete windows and others. Also, this could be a good thing for newbe programmers. Easy language: Java. There is supposed to be a development kit for non-programmers for programming games. This sounds really intresting. I myself can’t wait to run libGDX stuff on that console

Sorry for having so much german articles … Also, you don’t have to read them all. They all tell you the same thing over and over again, but it looks like theverge.com was the first magazine posting things about ouya

The just hit 4.000.000$, when I klicked on the link myself.

Let the games begin!

Already a thread on it, started a few days ago.

Indeed, however your post saves my chi performing google-fu. I just know if it has cute shape.

Huh… I’m blind… searched for something like that…

If all games are free, what is the incentive to develop games?

There isn’t. They will call it the, “App Bubble”.

Note: My games have free versions and they make a few bucks.

Too bad they are IMHO clueless with their naming…

    Almost as bad as Bing.

Can’t be any worse than Wii. But that had Nintendo behind it.

Let’s see what happens…

Seems like they are still friends.

Your brain is a mysterious place Riven.

how about wiiiiiiiiiiiii uuuuu
even more stupid

Don’t worry Riven I understand.

I think it’s a nice oportunity for Java gaming (if there’s something like that…). In any case, i backed it so i have a two-controller, easy to hide, snes/n64/whathaveyou emulator

Tegra3 quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB of internal flash storage
HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth LE 4.0
USB 2.0 (one)
Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
Android 4.0

Nice CPU but too little RAM and storage.

Too little RAM ? The laptop I’m using right now, and which I’ve been using for 4 years has 1GB Ram. You, kid, might be a little spoiled.

XBox 360 has only half a gig of RAM and it seems to do fine. One piddly USB 2.0 port seems kind of weak if they’re planning on supporting external storage, but maybe it’ll handle a hub.

I still think it’s vaporware, designed to push all the kickstarter buttons. The only thing that separates it from an outright scam is if the founders believe their own story, and I’m reserving judgment on that one.

Pretty much agree with sproingie. I think it’s vaporware.

The hardest part is developing the games. And the games are going to be free? Does not compute…

I disagree. I think this has potential. They themselves said in the video that the design is done and prototypes have been created. Also considering that donations are going at $100 a second, this won’t be easily ignored.
