Myself, and a few other people have started developing a 2D RPG. However, I am the only java programmer in the group; this puts a huge workload on my back. I am looking for more java programmers to help develop this game. We already have a written plot, Graphic designers, as well as a group of people who make music. Please, we are looking for any help.
PS I am currently working on the battle engine algorithms right now.

I don’t have time to help sorry, but sounds like a good project if you’ve got some people to make content/graphics/music for you.
But as the sole programmer you’ve got the hardest job. Have you thought of trying to leverage as much existing stuff as you can? There’s a few game frame works and there are plenty of people who would have made a similar game to what you’re trying to do and have made the source available.

If you can wait a few months, I can probably help. I’ve made a few RPG engines of my own, and my issue was always getting people to do the art.
Can you describe in more detail what sort of RPG? Like classic Final Fantasy or more like Chrono Trigger? Or even Tales of Symphonia?
