I’ve just finished completely networking jevaengine (quests, character dialogue etc) and I am going to start working on a project with it and looking to collect a team for further development of the project.
Before I do I want to have a basic idea\theme\story for the game and implement some basics unpolished quests\maps for the game.
This is what I’ve got so far, please provide some feedback (Note that I am not a great writer.)

For those that read this thread early, ‘not’ was a typo of ‘now’
I really like this idea ;D. My only concern is this becoming only about shooting zombies, it would cool if there were like side missions to save some people in the city. Say your running away from a pack of mutants about to finish some quest and you here an old woman’s cry for help, the player could decide to either finish the mission with a better time rating or help the woman and receive a reward from that woman but suffer the consequences of finishing your mission at a later time.
Randomly generated side-quests would be cool too. In terms of random world generation etc that is something I am very interested in doing as well. It shouldn’t be too difficult and I’m sure there are some very powerful libraries out there that I can adapt for this purpose.
The game isn’t going to be super revolved around zombies (the only video of the game seen has been Zombies and spiders but that’s just because the spritesheets are easily setup for use.) The origin allows for a lot of creepy elements in the game that aren’t related to zombies. I want the game dialogue and quest paths to have an impact on the character’s personality trait, so that is definitely something I want to work on.
I agree, I don’t want this to be another zombie shooter (there are way too many of those) but zombies are something that works with my storyline that I mid as well integrate a bit. There will be other elements (such as people with odd personality disorders etc.)
This game isn’t going to be a complex RPG, as I think that turns off a lot of casual players. As you can tell probably from the linked google-doc, leveling will be pretty straight-forward. I also don’t want leveling to provide a huge advantage to a player in the game as I think too many ORPGs are about grinding their characters to a particular level rather than experiencing the quest\story of the game.
