Legends of Fore

Well, good thing Coke and Code’s motto is “games to play on the toilet”…

One more squeak out of “childofgod” and the bannination hammer will be out. Werd.

Cas

Looks like the bannination hammer has already struck again!

Finally a new update! Version 3 includes:

  • Planets
  • Tasks
  • Exploring
  • Galaxy Map
  • Bug Fixes

As you can imagine theres lots of ground work thats gone in as well. More to do, more to explore. Android version has just gone up so will take a little while to propagate.

Any testing is richly appreciated as always!

Cheers,

Kev

And a quick screenshot of the planet Zon!

Just starting on the translation services for the game so I can remedy the problem with Legends of Yore. Planning to use Google Translate as a first ditch to get all the strings translated. First target language German. Any other good targets?

Cheers,

Kev

Spanish?

Russian’s bigger.

Cas

Yay, German

Yay, Russian

(Both languages I know)

@kevglass

I would imagine that using a native speaker for translations would result in more accurate translations. I’m sure there are dozens on this forum that would offer their services

Great game! I got here from Google, had to register (and answer a cute little coding question) just to comment on it!

I am playing the Android version and I just can’t wait to see what’s next for it. I’m a big Legends of Yore fan (it’s probably the only game worth a damn on my Blackbery Playbook*)

Some feedback:

  • Has other mentionned, the random “dungeons” in space would benefit from being more symmetrical. Assymetrical spaceships are just too weird. Just mirroring them along an axis would be enough, and it would bring a lot to the feeling of being in a spaceship
  • The stairs… the spaceship layouts should be remembered when changing floors. I understand that it is a rogue-like, and that this is how things works, but once again, they are spaceships. There are very few roguelike in space, so maybe you can allow to break that rule :D. On planets it’s fine, but in the ships… Also, I want an elevators, that makes a Star Trek noise, not stairs…
  • The game needs more decor, but I guess that this is just nitpicking
  • There is a bug with travelling to planets… the game crash when I try

Finally : Can I beta test? My game keeps breaking by trying to travel on a planet (In V3 on a Galaxy s3), so I might has well ask to beta test and hope that it won’t happen again for a while

*yeah, I don’t know why I bought that either

Wow, thanks for the feedback

I’ll get that crash fixed asap, looks like a stack overflow from the reports. I’ll try and get a fix out tomorrow.

Rest of the feedback, yes yes and yes. I’ll work on it in the next bigger release.

In other news, I’ve started getting the translation generator in - it’s automatic service based atm, but I’ll put it out for help once the complete text for the game is done. The number of strings is insane though, so it’d be a big job to take on.

Screenshots below - I need some more characters in my font so I’ve matched as best I can for the extended characters at the moment. I WILL be fixing this!

Be good to know if it’s even readable as automatically generated text?

All other feedback always appreciated. I’ll be putting out a bigger release later with settings that allow you to choose language in game.

Cheers,

Kev

For the Spanish the “Huh?” should be “Qué?”

The german auto translation is kinda creativ

But nice job so far.

ClaasJ

The French one looks ok, I guess that the typo in “Archéologique” is just the unsupported accented character.

It also changed the verb tense of “we’re conducting”. It should have been “nous effectuons”, not “nous allons effectuer”, which would be a translation of “We will conduct”, but then again that might not be much of an issue.

Nice work !
Like Gutter suggested, I think French translation would be more correct like that : “Hey bienvenue a Titan, ici nous effectuons des recherches archeologiques”

The german translation ist kind of strange. I think this would be better: “Hallo, willkommen auf Titan, wir fuehren hier archaeologische Forschungen durch.” “Danke” “Hä?”

How about:

“Hey bienvenue pour Titan, nous menons des recherches archéologiques ici.”

Trying different services atm.

Cheers,

Kev

And for German:

“Hey willkommen, Titan, werden wir die Durchführung archäologischer Forschung hier.”

Kev

Or is this translation better for German:

“Hey Willkommen im Titan, führen wir sind durch archäologische Forschung hier.”

Cheers,

Kev
