Unfortunately, there will be no updates for a while now - Mighty Morphin f***-up Mandrake has just decided (for no apparent reason) to commit suicide (rpm segfaults on everything, and I had a critical upgrade to perform). I have 2 deadlines today, and yet now I have to somehow find the time to rebuild a machine from scratch (from prior experience about 20 times, this’ll probably be around 1 week, because no linux installer actually works, often the “latest drivers” don’t work, and all the stuff you want to install is incompatible with the stuff you’ve already got, so you have to hack the OS to allow you to install the apps you need). This is what you get for running linux on a desktop :(.
Ah well. The kernel was crashing twice a day already anyway.

As much as I think it will be fun… let’s not start the Linux bashing thread all over again. I have been where you are now and I feel your pain. Luckily I was able to get work to buy me the Mac
