java-gaming.org android app? open source project??

Hey guys just a thought here, since we’re all java programs here why not make an android app for this website?
It could be done open source so everyone could contribute. What do you guys think??

Good idea. Now who want to start? he better knows about ABS :stuck_out_tongue:

Whats abs??? Absolute value?lol

You know, that UI library. Has “sherlock” for name. google

Oh cool just looked it up, but don’t know anything about how to use it I’m only a newb

Since JGO use SMF, I dont think there’s any API so you need to ask for high access, database/SQL query ;D

Let’s open up the database to noobs.

That, or your app renders the pages like usual but strips the HTML attributes until nude to take the contents.

And what, exactly, would be gained?

Dunno, ask the OP ;D I just suggesting some weird ways.

I’m only suggesting this because I often find my self using this website on my phone and it is poorly formatted for a mobile device so I figured it would be a good idea.

Why would you need an ‘app’ for a web page? Android phones already have perfectly servicable browsers. Serving up slightly modified html / css for mobile user agents should be good enough (although I’m sure Riven has better things to do).

App-ification of everything on the web is going to slowly kill the proper web at this rate.

Hence the idea of an open source project

Thats true, I also have android, and java-gaming.org workes fine!

Im not saying its terrible I just think it would be much better with something formatted for a mobile device

I guess you guys arent liking my idea to much :frowning: sorry lol

@OP: you may be inspired by other site apps. Well bad format shouldnt be the only reason. You want an app of it (mainly) because you need background notification for topics you follow.

That’s what RSS is for.

I actually hadnt even thought of that

(cont my post) and the site doesnt provide RSS, like reddit, twitter, FB, else. Yap like that ::slight_smile:
