That’s already how the generation works, I’d just like a wide variety of resources available on the planet, and am hoping for some help with important resources.
Posted a couple of small comments in the google doc.
So will players be able to trade resources with eachother/computer?
That’s the plan, yeah.
While working on the new generation system, I’ve been trying to think of possible names.
This is all I’ve come up with so far:
Galactic Endeavor
Stellar Pursuit
Galactic Venture
Stellar Endeavor
What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
I like “Stellar Endeavor”.
I find a good way to get names for projects of any kind are through synonyms. Try looking up synonyms for adjectives that describe your game.
That’s actually what I’ve been doing. It’s hard to find names I like that aren’t already in use for something.
Wow, the graphics on this are really nice. The online aspect isn’t something I’m really interested in but it still looks fantastic.
Thanks for the feedback! The multiplayer part of the game won’t really be forced on you, as you have a pretty low chance of finding another player without searching and listening for signals.
What font are you using for the text in the second image?
The in-game font is just a 16x16 font I made in Photoshop.
The font in the potential title “Stellar Endeavor” is called “Ethnocentric”
The new generation system is almost complete!
Here’s a somewhat more realistic solar system created by newer generation methods (I also made the sun white to add realism)
- Wow thanks looks really nice!! I esp. like that the sun is white, a lot of people don’t know that the sun is only yellow because of our atmosphere. Keep up the good work!!
This looks really good. Your whole project looks really promising, keep up the good work!
Would you mind sharing how you did / where you got your star background.
im looking for something similar for the skybox for a game im making…
thanks
j.
Honestly, you’ll just have to create it. You could actually do it the cool way, and create a program in OpenGL to randomly place stars with different light intensities and colors, and then export it as an image so you can use it as a skybox, or you could look one up on Google and make sure it’s free, or you can just do it by hand, which would be a pain.
This tutorial uses a method similar to how I created the basic stars in Photoshop for creating a starry background in an image. I hope it helps!
That is a very neat tutorial!
Or you can plot a bunch of random dots on the sky, on the fly.
I apologize for being quiet lately. I’ve been slowly re-writing all the code for the game in LibGDX, a library I’m not very familiar with. My main problem is how difficult it is for me to design something that works well on both Android and PC. I’ve been considering creating different guis for the two platforms in which the PC version is more in-depth, with all of the fancy graphics, while the Android version would be more about the information and options alone, as there is much less screen space on phones. If anybody would like to help me out with designing the menus, styles, and layouts, I’d be very grateful.
Hmm…looking at the screens I decided to whip up a “space” image.

Larger so I will just give a link.
I like this idea but those planets really could use some aliasing.
