I don’t understand what has been done on the homepage. I haven’t changed the source code, someone else has broken something. I can’t log in anymore. I don’t recognize my code.
URGENT
I quote Christoph’s last email:
"Hi Julien,
I would like to continue on the game site on my own. I want to do it
somewhat different from you had in mind. I want to make it less
restrictive when it comes to game listings. I am also planning to
rewrite the code base…
What you think?
Chris
PS: Don’t be mad; this has nothing to do with you. I simply want to have
my own game site with game listings. I can give you the domain
javagametome.com (it’s yours anyways). Also, you can use all the
graphics I did so far if you like?"
Please help me to prevent this change. I want to go on working on this project even though I had only a little time to work on it. I don’t want to make my own website, I don’t want to change the rules because Java is cross-platform and Java games should be as cross-platform as possible. I don’t want the whole source code to be rewritten, it is not necessary to send my work in the garbage. We need to work together, not separately. I can’t work alone on the website, Christoph made a good job. If the rules are changed without my agreement, I will leave the project and it will waste my efforts to promote Java games.
I have spent a lot of time in working on this website, it is really unfair to force me to accept such modifications that completely ruin the interest of the project. At the beginning of the project, we spoke about the rules and we all accepted my suggestions, it is not honest to invoke a disagreement about the rules now that I have written a big part of the code.
Hey the site is starting to look good!
Now, it is kingaschi’s project. Sorry for all authors that relied on me to defend cross-platform gaming. I did my best.
I thought that I wouldn’t have to unlock this topic but something has changed in my projects. I have created an application on facebook that allows to play Java games under different conditions than in the previous Java Game Tome :
http://tuer.tuxfamily.org/facebook/tos.php
The creation of this application was planned some years ago. I chose facebook recently in order to avoid competing with www.randomthoughts.net and the new Java Game Tome. Nevertheless, some people who participate to the project of the Free Gaming Foundation are very angry because of the bad audience of the FGF players’ portal and they demand I create a classical web version. The administrator of game-corp said that my application would stay confidential if only on facebook. The FGF players’ portal is only a tiny piece of the projects of the Free Gaming Foundation (that already funds 2 other organizations). I don’t want any web version of this portal to be seen as a competitor of the Java Game Tome because we have different aims. The JGT will have a larger audience as it has less criteria and then a wider choice for consumers.
I would like to speak more in details about that but I have to leave, I take 5 days off to have a rest. When I come back, I will begin adapting the portal in order to allow the players to use it outside facebook. I prefer locking the topic anew. I will unlock it when I’m back and then maybe create another thread to speak about it. Bye.
P.S: send me a private message if you want to participate to the project. We need someone to improve the look and feel and some Java programmers to fix bugs in the deployment of many Java3D games (games using Java3D + JOALMixer).
P.S 2: the database has been updated to prepare the web 1.0 version. It works fine.
P.S 3: the facebook version is here: http://apps.facebook.com/freegamingfoundation/
P.S 4: the source code of the web version is almost ready but not the login system, it is only a blueprint, I will show you the result next week
