2D Dungeon Game Alpha

Hi! I’m here with a small Roguelike I’ve made, done with LibGDX and pure Java:

It’s a “classic” 2D Roguelike with permadeath, monsters and simple objective: find an exit for next level.

These cute and bubbly sprites in this moody atmosphere reminds me of a style similar to that of orangepascal’s games. Looks quite promising, it’d be interesting to see where you take this.

You could use the html5 export functionality of libgdx to embed your game into your website,
which would decrease the entry barrier so that you get a higher play-count and more feedback :wink:

The menu item selection is not aligning with the position of the mouse pointer (selection still works but is irritating)
Movement feels a bit too fast when walking diagonally;
You might want to test out some variation in movement speed and acceleration.
The art style is nice especially on the player character and i like the effects.

On the main menu, the outlines around m and the parenthesis are incomplete, your logo is blurry, and the mouse coords are off. Actually the coords are off in the coop menu as well.
Controls are odd in that while moving up or down, you can add right or left to move diagonal, if you are moving right or left and add up or down you can not, is that intentional? I didn’t try a controller.

The game runs smoothly and looks good, no idea of fps.

Great start though, keep at it.

Yeah the Mouse Bug is known I will fix it tomorrow and I will work on the moving stuff :slight_smile:

I think the Movement is still a bit weird but I hope I could fix this later.

The menu works perfectly now, the movement is still quite twitchy but that’s just my taste.
The frame seems to try to go fullscreen but doesn’t succeed to do so, it reverts to a smaller windowed version, is that meant to be?
(I’m using a 1680x1050 monitor, fullscreen with LibGDX was tested and works)

Yeah that is meant to be, because the standard resolution is fullscreen and then the game switch to 1080x720 but not fullscreen.Soon you can change the Resolution in the Options Menu, I will try to implement that tomorrow, but thanks again for Feedback my friend :slight_smile:

=>You shouldn’t be able to go to the next level or world without killing the enemy.

So hi Guys i fixed the Bug that you can go to the next Level without killing an Enemy or collecting Chests or Items.Another new Feature is that is designed the Menus new and there is now also a Co-Op Menu for the Multiplayer Mode that begin soon.Hope you Guys like it and please give Feedback.

My 2 cents: it wasn’t a bug. Why shouldn’t I go to the next level if I sneak past your boss? Maybe I’m not interested in your loot either…

I think bypassing the boss should be a feature, but quite possibly I may need some of the items or experience that I missed from the previous level in the next level… Also, maybe the boss will come after me in the next level, so while you can sneak, there will be a day of reckoning :slight_smile:

Oh Okay, I think I will make it that you can pass the Boss and go to the next Level but it can be possible that you need a Key in the next Level for a Door or a Chest or something, that you only get when you kill the Boss :slight_smile:
