I’ve had a sudden interest in platformers after having gotten a good gamepad and played Mark of the Ninja, Super Meat Boy and LIMBO, which I’m all liking.
Intriguingly, I’m not liking Trine or Trine 2 at all.
Other titles such as Braid, Dustforce and Fez are all games that I don’t yet own but seem very interesting and I’m interested in getting.
What other platformers could you guys recommend?
So basically physics based platform games are not really your thing 
I like Trine well enough, for a couple of days and then it got really boring.
You should definitely check out Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Fez and Rayman Origins. Braid is nice if you like puzzle games. One that I would recommend keeping an eye out for is the remake of Flashback that is pending; that is going to be platform awesomeness of epic proportions.

Platformer in the last 5 years? Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Great games!
Braid is my favovite platform game, Its soo well made.
None. I’m more of a isometric tile based kinda guy.
Apart form Cave Story (duh), you could also take a look at Poacher, yeah, by that Yatzhee.
Also, Thomas Was Alone and VVVVV, although I have barely tried those.
Never played VVVVVV, but the music is amazing :o
Thomas Was Alone is a really charming little thing.
Guacamelee! I don’t typically like the Metroidvania genre, but this game is just a ton of fun.

beside the very known titles like limbo,super meat boy,braid,trine,portal2 and mirror’s edge i would to mention a game that i really enjoyed playing it, it’s called “the impossible game” , i played it on PSP last year and i didn’t regret it at all !!
if you love arcade games and you like techno music then you must love it i think it’s available now for android/ios and windows phone

Last five years? Don’t think I’ve played any platform games in the last 5 years. Unless you count Robot Unicorn?

Shift just about qualifies (it’s about 5.3 years old), and Shift 3 and 4 definitely qualify (as does my Java4k demake).
On the exploration platformer front, I loved William and Sly (2009).
