You Only Tap Once - A simple game about chain reactions

Hey there.
I just released my first game on Google Play and I would love to hear what you think. Honestly, the gameplay isn’t as crazy as some other games, but it’s a fun little time waster. I mainly created the game to get familiar with making games in the Java framework libGDX and Android game development in general.

The goal of the game is to clear the screen of as many dots as possible. You do this by touching the screen to place down a new dot. This dot will expand a bit and when other dots touch it, they will expand as well, starting a chain reaction. And as the title suggests, you only tap once. There’s currently 100 levels, ranging form easy to very difficult, and you can also generate an infinite amount of random levels.

I hope you enjoy it and constructive feedback is very much appreciated.

Available on Google Play.

Totally hooked to this game. The levels get quite difficult even on early stages, but I don’t mind.
Only thing that bugs me is that there is no music or in-game sfx.

Hey there.
You’re right, music would certainly be nice, I just haven’t been able to find something that fits yet.
As for the sound effects, you should be able to hear clicks when you press and button and pops when a dot hits another dot.
Perhaps you didn’t have the sound turned on loud enough to hear?

Yeah, there were those sound effects but there could be more, but I think the music would be the first thing to add now.
It would give the game a whole another feeling to it.

So simple, yet so fun and addictive! Me and my girlfriend love it! Good work!

And yes, add music!

Well, there’s a thing that you could change. It’s not a problem, but it’d be nice if levels were in order or something. Going from easiest to hardest. But really, that’s not a problem.

Kudos!

I played this one, and for the simplicity of the concept it worked out to be a tremendously addictive game, I pretty much could not stop playing until I got through the hundred levels.

Just to watch the chain reaction that you start when you tap was exciting, because it’s not always clear if you will beat a level.

Well done, sir.

A few comments;

  • while I like that you have “boss” levels where you need to get 1 small ball, overall, the levels did not really feel like they progressed in difficulty, but that it felt more like random selections of movement, number and size of balls.

  • it would be nice to have the game prevent the phone from going into sleep mode, many levels would have to prevent sleep mode while watching the reactions.

I don’t mean to take anything away from this one, because this game was addictive, and such a simple concept that I wish I had thought of it first.

A simple and addictive concept, and also well balanced to point that i once just passed with 200/200 balls :point:

I especially liked the levels where there was a lot going on, chain-reaction wise.
The ones where you had a lot of small/medium sized fast moving balls in a relatively large area were a chore, it was more on the random side whether you pass the level or not :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you planning to add new ball types or differently shaped levels in the future?
