Yet another [insert description here]...

What is with people putting “Yet another…”, “I also…”, or whatever as the title to their topic.

If this is you, stop. Here’s why:

By saying ‘just another…’ or ‘I also’, you are saying that it is just the same as something else of that description.
If there is an alternative that someone has already seen, why would they bother looking at whatever you have to say.
The gaming industry is so big now that to get noticed, you have to be UNIQUE.
By saying you aren’t unique at the critical point when someone chooses to look at what you have to say or not, you lose many potential customers for your games.

“[insert name here]” is going to get more attention than:
“[insert name here], a Minecraft Clone” which in tun will get more attention than:
“[insert name here], just another Minecraft Clone” which in turn will get more attention than:
“Just another Minecraft Clone”

My point: Be creative with everything and DO NOT say your creation are just the same as _____. :point:

You make a valid point but keep in mind some people make clones simply as a learning experience. So if they try to label their game as unique people will go “hey this is just a snake clone!”.

Alternatively you can write “Pedosnake (snake clone)” which i think is neater and use less characters to save up memory ;D

Please stop telling others what to do. kthxbye! :point:

All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

Get used to it.

That’s what you say after they have clicked on the topic. If the title is “Unique Title”, I will check it out and possibly play it if the screenshots are good, even if the first line of the description is “This is a snake clone.”

I wasn’t telling them what to do, I was telling them what they shouldn’t do and WHY it’s a bad idea to do it.

What if Notch called Minecraft “Just an Infiniminer Clone”?

U mad broh? I love doing Yet An Other. I am going to start 5 more general topics asking about things like, java2D, what is libgdx, what is an image, how to make a minecraft clone, and all sorts of other shenanigans. :point: joke.

I think these topic titles are fine as most I have seen are not titles for a game. If you are asking about say VBO again then “More VBO Quesitions” or “Yet and other VBO problem” is perfectly fine. But man if I see a title that is (unnamed RTS/RPG/PONG/any game genre) I get goose bumps just thinking about what awesomeness is on the other side of a topic click. Come on, sometimes yet an other is breathing new life into a genre even if it is pong. Look at NeoBat, a super slow, and contentless breakout clone that I still play during class when I don’t want to pay attention but want to be able to close the game super quick in case the professor comes about to the back of the class room were all the hooligans are. Man why I am writing so much…must be tired. ;D
