Xith3D dead since David left?

Wondering if there is still any development active of Xith?
Since we are using it for magicosm, I surely hope so.

Quiet, not dead.

Kev

alright

It’s not dead. Yuri and Will are still improving Xith3D.

David Yazel left? for what reason?
Did he also left magicosm?

Has been mentioned earlier…

In thread Magicosm not looking good…:

[quote]When people leave projects, this is always not so good…

…but as of Xith3D, it is already long time a comunity-driven project. I can tell that some people (OK, at least me) are working on Xith3D core to fix bugs and implement new features. For example, at this time I am working on 3D textures support for Xith3D, and there are also other features to implement.

In short words, Xith3D is not dead.

and …

[quote]I emailed David many weeks ago but did not get a reply.

However, with Yuri committed, and many other developers using it in their projects, Xith3D will live on regardless. Thank you Yuri for your continued dedication to the project!

While my personal development efforts at present are concentrated on Odejava, I am very much committed to the continued improvement and maintanence of Xith3D as Odejava & my personal project use it extensivly.

The BSD license means you’re not left totally high and dry even if all the main developers were to leave. Don’t worry, we won’t let it become abandonware.

Yes.

The reason I saw was that Magicosm was taking too much time from his “real” job & family or something along those lines.

I think Magicosm suffered much more than Xith3D. It’s too bad.

???!! does this mean jME will grow to be much better than Xith3D in the long run? It still has Mojomonkey. :stuck_out_tongue:

And Xith has got Yuri and Will, plus Jens for tuts and docs and tee.
I don’t get your point.

Oh man Mark Powell has basically left jME as well, for the most part:

:-/…I’d better stick with xith…

I haven’t quite left, I’ve just promoted (demoted?) myself to management duties, rather than development duties.

Xith3d is not dead or dying.

There are several people here with a vested interest in the success of the engine. Yuri and I are two such people and there are others - just look at some of the applications being built with Xith3D.

David appears to have ceased work on Magicosm and Xith3D for personal reasons. In the case of Xith3D however there are developers willing to take up the slack.

So stop worrying and start making games with Xith3D. That’s what I am doing.

Will.

Hi,

OK, Again on this topic - Xith3D is not dead. Even more, now some other developers here at JProof make code enhancements that I think may find their place in Xith3D core (at least, as far as I saw just few minutes ago, we have ready ViewingPlatform class, so after making simple usage example I will merge it with core [OK, decision to put it into core comes from the fact that such class is also in Java3D core]).

Yuri

Nice one, thank you! I used to use it with Java3D and will find it very useful with Xith3D.

Will.

Any news of a LWJGL version?

Cas

get the Mac LWJGL done Cas

Elias will be working on it properly very soon, we’ve got over $1,000 in donations to get the Mac I think.

Cas

nice one

well the Xith3D renderer was ported a while back, what’s stopping people using it like it is now?

Will.

nothing at all  we are… coming soon ;D
