XAP - maniac experience

XAP!
This is a creative manic arcade game, a not-so-stupid, maybe quite smart shooting game. 250kb achieve quite nice graphics & sound. It runs as browser applet, can also be downloaded and started as application, but then online highscore logging is disabled.

would be very pleased to see some comments of yours about here.

thx & greets

dronus, are you related to princec ?

Nice game but i would have preferred rescueing… muffins (attacked by ants) . you could add a “rescue type” option (muffins, etc.).

eerily familiar

One day people will make remakes of my games ;D

RMB=fire is somewhat odd… I get a context menu there… and firing with the middle mouse button is pretty strange (because it’s a wheel).

omg I splattered babies!! :o And I thought I wrote twisted games… :stuck_out_tongue: I think the controls actually work very well, moving on left click like that is a control scheme I never thought of. The graphical effects are very nice and the gameplay is good.

hehe, you can go outside the boundary of the screen. The zombies cannot follow (likewise with their projectiles)

Just watch those zombies eat the babies and multiply… i had over 200 on the screen at once. then i ventured back into the screen and died… quite spectacularly as well due to all the projectiles flying around.

Cool!

Twisteed, but nice gameplay!

I liked it

Just one minor gripe though, It needs key controls for movement. Like … ummm … that other game thats sorta similar. Seemingly my right hand is incapable of processing two different brain signals at the same time IE -move AWAY from the alien - and - fire AT the alien - . Gets it all mixed up and before you know it another baby has hit the dust and i’ve run into a pile of enemies …

I really like this time of game ordinarily, the moving with one hand firing with the other survivor/crimsonland sort of game. However I could never get into Alien Flux, that pinpoint targeting thing sort of ruined it for me although of course everything ELSE about the game seemed to make it ideal daire-fodder. So with that , I’m going to make the following incendiary statement:

If this game had seperate key controls then [hideFromUser=princec] i think i’d prefer it to alien flux [/hideFromUser]

(puts on asbestos coat)

D.

Flux already has separate key controls. Just use the cursor keys to move like in Crimsonland and aim with the mouse.

Cas

If you do change controlls, hopefully you make it an option cause I like them this way. I don’t have any trouble controlling it and the fewer hands required by the controlls the better :stuck_out_tongue:

btw: I always played alien flux using crimsonland type controls, didn’t know there was another way. I don’t see how people can complain about that… but maybe I’ve just played too many first person shooters and I’ve gotten quite good with ASDW+mouse

I wasn’t complaining !! I know AF has keyboard controls, its one of its saving graces … Its the ‘pinpoint targeting’ firing mechanism in AF that i was taking issue with …

seems cas is everywhere it smells of games ;D

…“One day people will make remakes of my games ;D”…

i HAD to do so… i remember somewhere back in the 90’s as i see cas’s xap first it was a real impact… i still own my amiga computer, and as i tested it one year ago… after years of disuse… well, i plugged it and it worked… and one of the first things i tried was to bring xap back to life. it was one relic of the good’ol times…

shortly after that i glued myself to my comp and 2 weeks later released xap!.. after some time of disinterest, i got some visitors to it, and as i tracked their referer: it was an board thread of cas, just found my remake. i greatly admire he took it with pleasure, as in fact he tried to sell alienfluxx at that time… but no, he had no problem doing some very effective promotion for my remake  thx, cas.
i hope you sell some copys of it, as i remember you stated xap orignial was not selled effectivly, the highscore on puppygames seemes that its now better. (the interest in xap! today is very poor…but tats no economic question for gods sake. in fact the whole highscore is made of friends of mine who for some reason seemed more glued to the game…)

thx for response & greetz
Paul
P.S. game is finished now except details, so control won’t change, as this would be some inpact on gameplay i guess.

368 kills, got bored.

but NICE GRAPHICS AND SOUND ! Very nice coding. Good job!
