with which programm can i create ASE?

Hello,

i m quit new to the 3D Business and startet my first programms with Xith.

Now i want to create my own models, but i don t know which Programm can export models as ASE.

I read about 3D Studio Max but it s far too expensive for me.

Is there a cheaper or free alternative?
i downloaded g max, but this can only export plasma (*.p3d).

Thanks fpr help and tips.

ASE is a rather exotic format. I know that ydnar’s q3map2 can compile maps down to ASE, but that’s most likely the oddest way doing models.

I suggest going the 3ds or obj route. Xith3D supports both of em (there are loaders) and almost any modelling package can export these formats.

I recommend these two (free) modelling packages:

OK… didn t know that ase is exotic.

But i can i load 3ds models as a nodes

;D yeah I like that feature too

Only formats which can export the pivot points of the individual nodes can use this logic. If the format does then it’s just a matter of coding it in (and the ASE code is open source if a reference is needed). I know that OBJ has named nodes, but I don’t know about the pivot points.

I believe there are some free versions of Max around designed so people can create game content - but I have no idea if they can export ASE.

Links for you:

GMax (the free version of MAX): http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/

results of interest from my google search: “gmax export ase”

Please share you experiance.

OK, i createt my Model with Wing 3D.
I think this tool is the most convenient one, esecially for beginners.

Now i export my Model as 3ds and obj file.

But how can i load it into my xith application?
And how can i load each individuall group as note?

I only can group the diffrent Parts in Wing3D but i can t build a real hierachy.

Should it be better, to build the models in an other tool to built up the dependencies of the single parts?

Thanks for help

ahh i just find the loaders from kev.

Now i have only to understand how they work.

Wish me luck
