Windown Xp dual boot

Hello guys !!
today i installed Windows7 in a computer that contain WindowsXp, in the the 2 or 2 first boots (when it still configuring) the system give me the option between loading win7 and an earlier version of windows, and somehow, it doesn’t show that anymore,
i went to the “advanced system setting” and i only found Windows7, i also checked with “msconfing” and also there is only windows7, i tried EasyBCD but it doesn’t fix it, and i think this is happening because both of the windows are installed in the same partition, so apparently the files that allows Windows Xp to load are deleted (in the disk manage i only have one partition and 9mo of non used space)
i looked almost everywhere to find a solution for the problem but all of them are about having two partition where windows7 loader can’t see the windows Xp partition or something like that
is there anyway to fix that ??
(i don’t have windows Xp CD ;D )

thanx a lot

If they were installed to the same partition, then you “upgraded” your XP install and replaced it with Win7. XP is gone as a bootable OS now. You may as well do a fresh reinstall of Win7 while you’re at it and clear out all the leftover XP crud.

:o !!
damn :-\ …
so there is no way to restore those boot files ?? cause am really in real trouble here, there is a program installed in windowsXp that i MUST make it run in windows7 or any new installation i made, and it wont run cause it’s not installed properly, i was saying that it is maybe due of a registry thing, is there anyway to find those registry keys and add it to windows7 ??

thank you very much

Your old registry files might be available: the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive will still be around in C:\Documents and Settings\username since Win7 uses a different path for users. The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive might be a problem, might exist in backups, though I don’t know off the top of my head what they’re called. You’ll still have to know what registry keys you’re looking for.

Can’t you just reinstall the program?

i can remember one of them is like
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PC SOFT\WDSetup\1\AUTECZMN2
no :-\
short story,
my cousin teach with this program, when he went to buy it (i dunno from who) he gave it him two option :
buy the cd or install it there (half price)
he picked the second option, the owner of the program has installed an edited windowsXp and that program
the problem was with the windowsXp, it was FULL CRAP i hated right from the first second i saw it’s name
“Windows Ubuntu” … windows my ass not Ubuntu :emo:
we can’t even run internet on it, and it has a HUGE compatibility issues, so we decided to install windows7 above it

thank you

are the files for the program still on there?
