Which graphics card?

Currently I am using an old notebook with a NVIDIA GeForce2 Go for Java Development.
I experienced problems testing some a Jogl-Application using Windows XP. (BlueScreenOfDeath when using two displays.)
Now I am going to buy a new PC for Java development.

I do not need a high-end card. I don’t want to pay more than $ 180 (EUR 180).

Which graphics should I buy?
I am sure there are at least some graphics cards I should keep my hands off!

Any hint is appreciated!

I don’t need all advanced effects.
My main interest is quick texture (MID-MAP) output.
I guess the ASUS Extreme N5900/TVD would meet my performance needs, because of it’s 256-bit memory interface:

And the best I could get it for about EUR 110.

My recommendation would be to get the highest-end NVidia card you can afford. You can get a powerful card for less than your budget and I have personally found NVidia’s drivers to have the best and most robust OpenGL support.

I always check the tests at http://www.tomshardware.com/ before I buy a card.

personal plug by any chance? ;D
