Which API

Howdy.
I’m interested in making some casual games in java. Tetris, match3 games, lemmings clones, etc. All 2d stuff.

Anywho, I assumed I would need to use either lwjgl or jogl, I hadn’t even considered java2d until recently.
Is there any reason I should choose one over the other?

Thanks.

Pulpcore would be an excellent choice for this kind of thing.

Thanks. Will certainly consider using this

I have set up a wiki that you might have use for. Have a look here. Slick 2D is a framework on top of lwjgl (since you mention that), that should reduce the amount of lines you need to write to get a game going. The SF library should also do the trick, but I haven’t heard any comments about that, and then pulpcore.

Hi!

I advise you to give a look at JGame:
http://www.13thmonkey.org/~boris/jgame/
It supports hardware rendering through JOGL and even automatic translation from Java to ActionScript 3 (Flash)!

Thanks for the suggestions peeps.
Will try these out and see which i like best
