I though I should buy the official OpenGL reference manual and had a look at Amazon. Apparently OpenGL 1.4 reference manual is available, but version 2.0 isn’t. Does anyone know where one can get a copy of the latest version?
The OpenGL Programming Guide for OpenGL version 2 is definitely available from amazon.com. Search for ISBN number 0321335732.
Yep, got the programming guide v2 on delivery. It’s the reference manual I can’t find. Check for ISBN 0321335716 at www.amazon.co.uk (couldn’t find it listed at amazon.com).
I see. From some web searching it looks like it hasn’t yet been updated for version 2.0.
FYI, Mylop, when you talk about the “Reference Manual” and the “Programming Guide”, it’s a bit confusing to most OpenGL programmers. Although those are the official titles, they are commonly referred to as the “Blue Book” and the “Red Book” respectively. When I first read your post, I had to glance over at my bookshelf to know which book you were talking about. Had you said “Blue Book”, I (and likely Ken) would have known immediately.
This thread is a bit dated, but I think this is an important tool to point out that just became available:
http://www.opengl.org/sdk/
This essentially renders the blue book totally obsolete, as all the reference information is on that page. That’s probably why there’s no new paper bluebook.
