Where can I find a decent documentation of the markup "shortcut" of JNLP?

Hi!

Where can I find a decent documentation of the markup “shortcut” of JNLP? I have only found this:
http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2005/09/01/webstart.html
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/syntax.html#information
shortcut element: The optional shortcut element can be used to indicate an application’s preferences for desktop integration. The shortcut element and it’s sub-elements provide hints that the JNLP Client may or may not use. The shortcut element can contain the optional online attribute, and the two optional sub-elements, desktop and menu.
How do the attributes “online” and “submenu” work? How do the sub-elements “desktop” and “menu” work?

read the JavaSE 6 doc its more up2date and contains a sample and more details:

Hi!

Thank you. It does not work in my case. It is impossible to create a shortcut nor from the cache viewer (the button is disabled) neither when launching the application:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Hi!

When I remove it:

<update check="always" policy="always"/>

it does not work, it does not change anything.
Whatever the value of the attribute “online” of the element “shortcut”, it does not work.

I’m under Linux. Do shortcuts of Java Webstart work under this family of operating systems?

hi, i am on ubuntu and java desktop shortcuts work pretty well on that system (but I think start menu shortcuts won’t work).

Ok I hope it will work one day, I have no idea why it does not work for me :frowning:
