Yeh, they have increased slightly.
Nothing to worry about though unless the advertiser is a 1 post wonder.
Yea, I’m wondering too. This forum gets by far the most spam despite the fact that it’s rather small.
Is the sign up without email confirmation perhaps?
What works great is using email confirmation together with a 24h delay… or what they do over at cgtalk. The first 10 posts or so won’t show up until a mod read em.
the forum has 'game in its name, putting it on the A list for spamming.
Just to get mine in quick:
HeY GuYs!!! Look! Great NoO gamez:

Sign up! Go on!

(PS: Why do you think I started posting here :P)
Well it could be positive. We are noticed… I mean a sure sign of civilization is the rats… or something like that
My guess is that someone just released an update to the script kiddie tools that includes a specific bot to seek out YaBB boards and automatically:
1 register
2 create topic
3 spam
…because I could certainly do it, and YABB is common enough.
I hold my hand up, and plead guilty. I of course am the latest to spam this board with a “please come and play this game” type thread. If this is offensive to you, I can only apologise, and please feel free to remove it.
Not quite the same - you posted in OT, you weren’t making any direct benefit from the posting, and your posting was not automated but manual.
However, in general it is at least cheeky if not rude to go to a developer site and tell them to play a game…

Yea, I guess so. It’s getting worse each day.
I hope we’ll get a new board soon with some registration barriers (which are easy to overcome for humans but hard for bots). Like confirmation email and maybe a 24h account activation delay.
One of those squiggly text box thingies is always good.
Ah… jgo shows up on page 5 if you search for “yabb” (google). That’s the 49th place. Guess that’s the reason.
