Before zombies it was vampires and werewolves.
Maybe next it’ll be witches or trolls? But Harry potter kind of did that already… Hmm.

Some people just want to see the world burn… in HDR with bloom and awesome particle effects!
How many OpenGL engine programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?

It seems the undead are all popular. Even skeletons and mummies.
I’m hoping this zombie fad to die a horrible death. I’t tiresome to see them over and over again, even on games that have no reason to be about zombies. I don’t mind much games/movies that ar aware of how retarded the concept is (eg.: Lollipop Chainsaw and Dead Snow) but those that try to scare you with some moronic scientific explanation to make them seem believable (eg.: Resident Evil and I am legend) just insult my intelligence.
Doesn’t sound all that far-fetched really, with all the hype created by the (awful) Michael Bay Transformers and (much better) Pacific Rim, in addition to Titanfall and the already ongoing Hawken, there could be a rising interest in those.
Ah yeah, I remember the movie ‘the mummy’, terrible. And Diablo, they loved their skeletons.
Also, demons and angels had their time in the ‘DaVinci Code’ and ‘Angels and Demons’. Diablo had them too.
Maybe mutants might be next? Fears of radiation poisoning as a new cold war erupts between China and the US with the possibility of nuclear armageddon.
Or apes! Like ‘plant of the apes’. I liked those old movies, but the recent one was a stinker.
Or aliens?
As long we we do not return to Nazis, not even if they are set in the future or turned into zombies!
@ctomni231 Power Rangers are still going strong with new series being made, you are probably not their target demographic anymore My children love them and they are quite popular on Netflix (in the uk).
I think the “robot” thingy was around the 50’s or 60’s ?

Uhm… Zero? Because the global illumination from your computer monitor makes all other lighting unnecessary? :persecutioncomplex:

How many OpenGL engine programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Two to program the rotation matrix and one to make the new bulb model.

None, it’s a hardware problem
Why should they?
Computer monitors are bright enough.
Exactly, the glow from all the screens should be enough to light a nerd’s room! You can always tell how nerdy someone is by how bright their room is at night with all the lights turned off!
Well that, and all the nights spent tearing hair out and swearing at your computer…

I think its gonna focus on future sci-fi stuff. Watch Dogs for example. Seen a trailer recently for another future scifi game by some massive developer, cant remember the name. GTA will probably make a future based sequel, Mirrors Edge 2 will probably also be set in the future, maybe another Deus Ex, then we have the new Robocop movie. Been a few crap future movies actually like elysium…
just my 10 cents
Aliens,
or cats
or in this regard: cat videos
AIs and virtual reality will also play more of a role
well: something people fear, there needs to be some antagonist present.

Tapeworms. Rod Grubs. Brain parasites. Nano-bots to take over living bodies to “borgify” them.
