What the hell happened to JGO...again?

Well, there is a reason that MTBF numbers are important. It would seem that the server that JGO sits on died because the $5 cooling fan that sits on the CPU heatsink died…in the middle of a table write.

Special thanks to the guy who helped repair this and rebuild the tables (you know who you are)

P.S. Oh yeah. We are going to move the forums into a “proper” server farm and onto a Sun machine ASAP

There is a saying in Danish: “Det skal gøre ondt, før det gør godt”, which loosely translated goes something like this: It has to hurt before something good happens
Anyhow, glad it’s moving to a proper hosting center.

I thought that DB write access was journaled, apparently not.

Would have been cool to add the OpenGL forums while you were at it :stuck_out_tongue:

DP

SUN server for u i guess /run-and-hides

We have not been running this on a Sun server thus far. We will now

Hey I can log in now.

Havent been able to for months and was too lazy to make a new account.

Settings files borked…still need to move to Sun servers…sooner rather than later.

Cas

No pain, no gain. ;D

In serbian we say something like “Bez muke, nema nauke.”. No pain, no gain
But, if translated literaly it means - Without hard labor, there is no science
