Forget the flame war about OS preference, let’s have one about musical tastes instead! ;D
No point. I shall smite your mighty musical taste with my electronica/Nerdcore/chiptune/80’s collections of sonic awesomeness. ;D ;D
Indie Rock ftw.

Maybe you’re right but anyway, we don’t want DRM in the Linux kernel ;D I prefer the global license even though there is no perfect solution that would satisfy everyone (sorry it is not yet translated in English):
One growl from Tom Waits and you’ll be crying like a baby!
I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard installed and “Windows XP Jacked Core” installed. Snow Leopard is the first OS I’ve ever paid for (that hasn’t come with the machine), and I obviously didn’t pay for the jacked core thing. I went for that install because it strips out absolutely every that isn’t necessary from Windows XP, thereby keeping out a lot of the junk I hate about Windows (stuff that Julien has been mentioning, for one).
Private: Ubuntu 9.4
Work: WinXP Pro and Ubuntu 9.10
qft
Kubuntu 9.10
Windows Genuine Advantage can be avoided in Windows XP by not installing the SP2. As far as I know, it is not so simple with Windows Vista and 7.
I don’t get what the issue is with WGA. It’s just verifying your copy is legit.
I know people who have bought laptops and found out later that their copy of Windowz is not legit. Do you really think being able to rip off consumers is a good thing, or good for the industry as a whole?
And only works in IE, which can be hideously annoying.
But if you only need to do that once, which you do, then never touch IE again, is it REALLY that hideous?
In other browsers you get a program to run, which I don’t find too intrusive.
I’ve not tried this, but I believe you can also use the IE tab plugin if you want it to work the same in both FireFox and IE (IE tab uses IEs Trident engine for rendering the page in FireFox). If I remember correcly you can also set IE tab to always be used on certain pages, such as the MS download site. So to you it will work exactly the same in both FF and IE.
I believe that only happens in Firefox (although they may have changed it since). In Opera you’ll get a flat-out refusal and get a standard “Use a proper browser, like IE!” page. :
AHAHAH! Nice
I looooove this thread
windows ! windows ! windows ! for desktop
linux ! linux ! linux ! for server
bha there is hundreds of other method : my laptop computer is still connected to windows update and since severals years now benefit to ALL updates, but… hue… I am not really sure that I bought it… cant remember ! ;D

+1
and IMO firefox, google and any other big groups/company … I really dislike “cool looking compagny/groups” that just threat everybody as a stupid guy ( cf : hey ! download firefox this is cool we are fun and just trying to make the biggest download ever… pffff… or any google communication action) , I prefer company that looking evil because then you already know who you are talking to.
@goussej:
do you really think that someone who dont use linux should be shot ?
I have never said I love Google etc… I know some companies try to make some profits with the open source world and they could do bad things too if we don’t take care. The Mozilla Foundation is a public benefit organization, not a corporation.

I don’t want to kill people because they disagree with me but I consider there is a real lack of awareness concerning what Microsoft does. I know lots of political activists interested in ecology who are still very conservative when it is about their computers, it is disappointing. I see Linux as a perfectible alternative. Refusing using Microsoft Windows and using Linux is not like refusing going to Mac Donald’s and going to Quick or Burger King instead. I see the use of Linux as a constructive boycott and as a way of proving the viability of new ways of organizing the work. I think many programmers are able to do fantastic things without a boss kicking their ass.
Edit.: lol please don’t massacre my pseudo, it is gouessej because my name is Gouesse, Julien Gouesse ;D Maybe you won’t forget my name anymore once you will have seen me at this stupid reality TV show (Love is blind) on TF1 in 2010.
