What music do you listen to while you code?

Example?

Ah I know this song too! The girls are so hot…man I have terrible yellow fever… I’ll be in my cabin… :persecutioncomplex:

Girl Generation members are unarguably hot. However back to the context, they’re Korean not Japanese

Don’t care. Still fapped.

In memorium: Tusa, our cat. Poor sweet creature stopped eating and faded very fast. (Don’t know how old–she adopted us about 10 years ago. But too old for blood tests, said the vet.) Two days ago was the last time she was able to jump up onto the printer and hang out in her bed next to where I program. Today she could no longer hold her head up to drink from a water bowl.

I recorded this about a year ago. It’s one of several of my own pieces I sometimes put on while coding, letting it loop a few times before going to something else. Just a simple background with a keyboard improvisation over it.

All the stem sounds are ones that can be synthesized via Java, using FM synthesis, except I don’t know how to program the interesting filter modulation that randomly varies over one of the background voices. There’s a bit of chorus and reverb in there that I haven’t figured out yet either.

One of these days I’ll succeed in turning this into a generative piece of some sort.

House music from a Polish online radio station. Mostly because the amount of ‘singing’ or verbal sounds are limited and those tend to cause mental focus issues for me. Though it should not be void of such sounds, just not constant babbling.
Mind you, I do not speak Polish, I just like their program and you hardly hear any commercials.

Normally I listen to metal such as Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad, but when coding I just can’t stand it, it’s like being constantly reminded I should be out drinking and headbanging

While coding my 4k entry I’ve been listening to an album by Wardruna called Runaljod - Gap Var Ginnunga. It’s like living on a viking longship, all horns, shouts and throaty noises. And I can’t understand a word of it. The sound of lone horns drifting on the wind gets my hackles up.

Sound quality is a bit poor on this one, but the woman’s voice is incredible (and she is rather hot)

My goodness, I’m sorry :frowning: … “Today she could no longer hold her head up to drink from a water bowl”, wouldn’t it have been a better option to release her before that point? The cat must not have felt that good at this point :frowning:

I’m surprised no one has mentioned di.fm. They have good “techno” radio (dub, house, dnb, glitch, etc.)

Full Metal Alchemist & Bleach Openings and Soundtrack is pretty nice for example

Glad there’re another JP music listener, although your songs aren’t my taste.

I listen to commercial Pop music from the commercial Radio.

Funny. I was just entering this thread to say: “If the pixies haven’t been mentioned, then you’re all a bunch of unwashed heathens.”. I guess I don’t need to say that after-all.

C418 and EmileVanKrieken’s music, especially aether soundtrack. Also love 8- and 16-bit game soundtracks, plus a few others

I also listen to eurodance (mostly cascada).

Thank you you are awesome for showing me this. ah.fm is also pretty good.

I have eclectic tastes :stuck_out_tongue:

List of current favourites: WEEN, Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Peeping Tom, Tomahawk, The Orb, Eat Static, Future Sound of London, Front 242, Fatboy Slim, The Breeders, Elastica, The Butthole Surfers, er… lots and lots and lots of things.

Thank you, I had no idea it existed until a friend told me about it a few months ago. It’s a great service. Thanks for showing me ah.fm it’s pretty good too
