What music do you listen to while you code?

Meh, I don’t like all the new techno stuff to be honest with you.

I like piano remixes of popular songs. It just either is funny, or is funny and awesome.

Yeah, that stuff is fine, but really stuff like dubstep and all that just annoys me… Its the same beat over and over again and its just… Noise :-\

Pretty Lights, Daft Punk, Gramatik, Bassnectar, Big Gigantic, Beats Antique, Avicii, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Tipper, and Foo Fighters.

Just because Skrillex got main stream, I.e, the reason everyone now knows what dubstep is, doesn’t mean his music is shit. I don’t know what he does nowadays but a few years back, his tunes revolutionized dubstep. If you want to know what real dubstep used to sound like, listen to some few years old Excision at Shambhala.

Considering Skrillex, it really is hip to be square. He simply just skyrocketed to fame a few years ago (because of his music) and now the new thing cool kids do (hipsters) is hating on the mainstream just because they want to appear to be unique.

my 2 cents

all that mainstream shit man
have some REAL music:

I can assure you there’s nothing new about that.

While listening, can think a bit about the challenges today’s musicians face:

I learned an interesting thing about Pandora recently. Their rate of reimbursement averages $0.08 per thousand plays approximately (I think the amount varies by the length of the cut but am not sure).

So, if an artist gets onto one of their streams, and has three pieces playing in a day, every day, that comes to less than $90 for a year. (AFAIK, the amount of reimbursement does not reflect the number of recipients/subscribers of the stream. Please correct me if I am wrong!)

Pandora is lobbying hard to LOWER this rate. They’ve bought some tiny radio station in South Dakota or somewhere and are now claiming that they should be allowed to stream at FM/AM radio rates.

Games are having some similar issues, I guess. Google, et al., working hard to keep the cost of “content” to a minimum, in order to maximize the profitability of their ad revenues and customer info collection and sales. Makes perfect business sense, given the existing rules of engagement.

Hype the time quest boss theme.

I have no shame in this. :stuck_out_tongue:

On the other hand, I’ve bought no less than five albums straight off Pandora. Would probably be more if it were a smoother experience and not just a link into the craptastic interface of the iTunes store.

I hate on mainstream because most of the songs annoy me. now what was mainstream in the 80’s like ACDC and Def Leppard is fine because they actually made good music.

Listen to the Super Meat Boy and VVVVVV soundtracks.
