What I did today

Today I forgot my ID for my doctors appointment :emo: Waiting on my brother to cycle it to me - appointment in 15 minutes :persecutioncomplex: Fml

Edit: I MADE IT

So now there’s a dancing banana in my program…

[sub]Yes, this is how low my life has sunk[/sub]

Add a couple more frames, it looks great.

Have you considered to combine motion blur and DOF. This way you could reuse most of the samples.

Enraged the internet last night by daring to be worried about the effect of Steam’s new refund policy on income, spent much of today pouring water on the flames. Ended up blocking over 10,000 Twitter accounts, and then finally making the @puppygames account protected. So, well done, internet.

Cas

To be honest, I don’t like this refund policy as well… Refund should be possible only if user didn’t even downloaded the game or cannot run it after downloading (in which case developer makes refund manually).

Buying game which is not in user taste is user, not developer fault. 2 hours is a lot.

Shame, I enjoy looking at the tweets of various indie developers.

Yikes. And yet, you still end it with a smiley face :stuck_out_tongue:

To be fair, the idea of refunds is all over the economy, with many stores (at least in the US) offering 30day refunds. It’s also better for the consumer to not spend money on something they won’t use.

However, I do agree that it is unfortunate for the developers, and I wish that the policy required some sort of explanation on why they should get their money back.

Edit: fixed typos because apparently I can’t type.

Example Dialog: ā€œI hate that games lighting!ā€ ā€œLET’S RETURN IT!ā€

Should probably point out here that Valve have gone way beyond the requirements set out in EU law… there is actually no obligation to refund digital purchases at all if certain simple criteria are met (see: http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/shopping/buy-sell-online/rights-e-commerce/index_en.htm) For what it’s worth, we 100% support customers* rights to a refund, but only if a bunch of other things change.

  • Coz, surprise surprise, I’m a customer too

Where is this rage-inducing message?

I saw his post. I’m considering it, but I’m not sure. There are quite a few problems to solve for that to work for me and I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I’m currently completely stuck on a massive driver bug causing abysmal performance due to Nvidia’s GLSL compiler completely messing up and using hundreds of registers while tweaking a few settings makes it use 6 instead (but with massive overhead). I posted about it on Gamedev for some opinions on the matter: http://www.gamedev.net/topic/669036-nvidia-glsl-shader-compiler-bug-massive-register-usage-for-unrolled-loop/

From the comments on Reddit it looks like your blog post calling out abusive customers is coming back to haunt you.

I decided to try music notation software again today, and I’ve just fallen in love! It’s so much fun. I have so much more knowledge of what I’m doing now and it just kinda feels right. Hopefully soon I’ll have some completed compositions to post.

Until then!

Edit: Oh, I forgot I also decided to try to make an action rpg I got inspired to design in a week. Obviously it won’t be as fully fleshed out as my design document, but I just really wanted to try something different than my usual fare.

I discovered MGMT

Also I have played a total of 23 hours of Retro Pixel Castles which is a lot for me since my most played game is Civilization 5 which I got years ago and yet only clocks in at 75 hours. And I only have 34 hours clocked on Skyrim.

Took new Praxis LIVE website live - http://www.praxislive.org - no more CMS ftw ;D

Also been moving documentation over to http://praxis-live.readthedocs.org - really nice service!

Front end development is now my friend. Am I it’s friend?

NO.

Crawls to the back end

Seriously though, JavaScript+JQuery is cool except for when previous developers left their code completely undocumented. It’s all ready hard for me because I don’t know a lot of front end technologies and this sea of unfamiliar, un-commented code did not help anything.

Once you ā€˜transition’ into AngularJS, you’ll realize ā€˜JavaScript+JQuery’ was not so great after all. :point:

Sigh If only my work would allow me such a treat. There’s no way we are going to rebuild our entire core framework on AngularJS, think of how much money it would cost them… If it ain’t broken (A.K.A ā€˜shippable’) then why would management ever want to spend money on it? Gah.
