What exactly has been done...?

Just rereading a post down on the Jobs board, comparing (yet again) Java 3D for games development against “roll your own” using a OpenGL binding…

Someone said that Java 3D needed some defending, so here goes…

How many commercial games have actually been written using the two sides of the coin?

Java 3D to my knowledge has “RoboForge” and “Law and Order”, both of which have made some (if not alot) money. Are there any others?

What commerical games has Java + produced? I know we have Alien Flux (Cas would kill me not to mention it :)), but thats really not a 3d game, although it looks pretty damn fine… Is there anyone using opengl binding + java at the moment for a commercial 3d game ?

Kev

Well, it is a 3D game if you look closely…

I did notice the lovely 3D particle effects - very pretty! However, I think the usual definition of a “3D Game” is that of a 3D world with models etc… ;D
