Weird laptop glitch this morning, I woke up and tried to turn on my laptop and it wouldn’t turn on :frowning:

I like electronics so I took the laptop apart till the point in where I was able to tweak with the power switch in hopes of fixing it.
Even took the power button apart :c (Almost had to bring it in to get it looked at after taking the power button apart :c)
(10-20 minute mission)

Checked for Screen / Battery problems didn’t find any so I just gave up at this point lol, said whatever and went outside to smoke (Left the laptop plugged in)

I came back inside 5-10 minutes later, said if it turns on kool, if not we’d need to take it in :c

I pressed the power button and it turned on :expressionless: :expressionless: :expressionless: so the summary of this post is:

If you leave your laptop unplugged overnight it is possible that all energy will drain from it / its “Capacitors” and it wont be able to function until charged? 0_0!!

Does this sound right or is my laptop / battery defective? D:

It would probably be best to go get it checked.

I actually had this same issue with an older laptop I owned a couple years ago.
What is your laptop’s manufacturer?

That explains it.
I have never liked HPs, just because of reliability.
If you ever need a new laptop, consider getting an Asus.

One day my Alienware M14xR1 turned off suddenly about five times. I thought it was a battery issue and was prepared to seek help the next day, but it was a one-day thing. The next day it worked perfectly and has had no troubles in the 4 (my estimate) months since. Maybe it was a one-day thing for you, too.

One of my friends has an HP laptop. for no reason, it started giving him boot errors and running him around for half an error before he could even get to a logon screen. He finally got tired of it and asked me to run a windows repair or reinstall. So i burn a win7 disk and put it in. He misses the “press any key to boot” part and windows… boots perfectly. We take the CD out of the drive and reboot several times. works perfectly. I think either I scared it into working ( sometimes things just work when i operate them) or it recovered files from the install disk. He thinks it worked because he showed it he cared about it enough to have me fix it.

I had a very old HP Compaq Laptop bought in 2004. Now it’s so weird that I never use it. The problem is when charging for almost 5 hours, it shows 100% remaining. When I remove the power cord, it says 6% remaining, plug in your charger. I’m now not using it as I’ve got a new desktop.

That’s a template with two variables.

Everyone has their own entries for VAR1 and VAR2, it is simply futile to even attempt to have any kind of discussion about it. It might even depend on the factory that produced the components for your particular laptop, the next Asus you buy might just be shit and then you have a new VAR1 and VAR2.

True dat about the template. However, I occasionally go into my local computer shop to look at the laptops, and once the sales guy showed me a HP which he said matched all my criteria and then suggested I shouldn’t buy it because of the supposedly problematic HP support.

I am fairly certain that is just a nearly dead battery. I’m pretty sure getting a new battery will make it back to normal.

I know I basically fried my laptop battery lols

I believe it’s the same with a phone while it’s charging:

If you leave it plugged in all day & all night (powered off I believe) it will kill your battery :c
