Webcam games

Hi,

What (if any) webcam enabled Java games are known to exist? I am thinking about something like where the user controls the racket in a tennis game by moving the hand around in front of the cam… something like this one here http://www.ugotgames.com/eyekanoid.php

JMF comes with webcam support to the best of my knowledge. So it shouldn’t be too hard to get the video stream. The subsequent image processing is more difficult of course but not impossible to cope. There are probably so few games because people assume that only a limited number of people actually have a webcam?

The genre of games doesn’t attract me. I don’t feel comfortable weaving my arms like a maniac, just because I’m playing a game.
It’s bad enough when I try to dodge bullets in CounterStrike 8)

Response time would be my concern. Webcams generally capture at a fairly low framerate ( at least the last time I bothered doing much with them…they may be much better ). Although it’s fine for video chat and postcards, is it fast enough for a reflex-based game?

JMF is a good idea that Sun abandoned long ago and never properly supported to begin with. As it is hard to set up for end users and it doesn’t work well.
