Hi All,
My project consists in costruction of a virtual city with 3DS loaded objects.
objects(building,roads or trees) are inserted(dragged) from a pallets.
My problems are :
-how to drag the object(with a small picture of it) from the pallets to the terrain with a screen to world coordonate transformation.
-how to guarantee vehicules (which may circulte in the city) to not heat a building…

About your second question:
I think it depends, on how you save your buildings. You could also do it with collision detection, then your vehicles would not drive into your buildings, but only crash against them. But I think you even want to stop the cars hitting walls, you’ll have to give your cars some AI - you could also build roads and then the cars only drive on those roads… But these are only some suggestions - you’ll simply have to be imaginative

but my problem is not imagination but implementation, i’m looking for some examlpes to help me developping the game!
For roads, they have to be putted one by one ( i have to do junction with street boxes) and save position in a separate file(database)
in other hand , i thought to define buildings and trees (no passable ) but I don’t know how to use collision in shuch case .

In my humble opinion, the best for you is to have two representations of your level :
- One where you have an list of all your buildings, trees, and other objects : just for display
- And another with a list of lines, that your cars shouldn’t cross
I could do a basic implementation of that if I only had time !

you may use Hashmap to create the whole environment…
is anyone have a little sample about the hashmap to give to ensiman…
and as arne said, you have to be imaginative…
