Unofficial Minecraft Convention dissapears with $500,000

An unofficial minecraft convention, ‘MineOrama’ has disappeared with $500,000 a week ago, and no refunds. The twitter page was taken over by a ‘16 year old’ and has since posted nothing but garbage.

EDIT: Seriously though, let those charge backs flow.

Wow, first Yogsgate, now this. Hide yo paycheck, hide yo 401k, everybody be scammin’ Minecraft fans…

It may be something to do with the fact that most Minecraft fans are teens and pre-teens and thus almost by defnition, utterly naive. Or, as my old friend Colin puts it, “with shit for brains.”

Cas

I havent read the description of the con but why the hell was it $150 ?

Currently the GamesCom is in cologne, 30 minutes from my place, and they charge you like 20 bucks

But whyyy? Why people are throwing $150 at their screen for something that looks shady and they’ve never heard of it before?!
Of course I know the answer, it’s just that I keep losing faith in humanity.

Well to be fair, the prospect of people faking or screwing up whole conventions is a new thing, as far as I can remember I never heard about that kinda thing back then

I see your point, but come on, the $150 should have at least made them a bit suspicious.
3 days ticket to PAX costs $75, and Gamescom daily ticket costs about $20 IIRC.

Im going to FanExpo in Toronto.

That one is 50 bucks to get in (for 1 day) and another 40 to participate in the Dr. Who session…

so 150 was not so extreme that it would raise eyebrows.
