Try out this game...

Hey my friend and I have been working on a project for our highschool end of year “Assignment”. We made a game called the The last Breath… basically it’s an overhead 2D game… RPG like. The graphics unfortunately are taken from various SNES games… as it was only meant to be a school project. We are planning to develop an online version… there is multiplayer in this version but it doesnt work :stuck_out_tongue: ;D Well… there is a chat lobby… but it’s buggy atm. ANYWAYS I was wondering if you guys could try it out and let me know what you think…

You can download it here :

In order to play… the controls are as follows: On the main screen ‘z’ or enter is to select an option. Don’t go into multipalyer as it’ll probably crash (I know bad practice lol)… There will be 3 save game slots… press z and arrow keys to select one… then enter your name with arrow keys and z again… pretty straight forward. An intro scene will play (just text … bad, really bad, story line text). Then it will go into game. Basically there is not much to do atm except to walk around. Z is to swing your sword and game, and you walk with the arrow keys. You can talk to 'npc’s by pressing enter.

That’s it. Thanks :d

I really do like it and can’t wait to see some of your own art and music, aswell as multiplayer. Also, why not just put all the resources into the jar file, and make a jnlp file and its java webstart ready!

Might have to change a few things to do that. Currently all the tiles are packed into one resource file the (ITData.mdk) as well as other various images… so i have to change some loading stuff to do that  ::slight_smile:

Superb guys! Looks and feels really nice!

Couple of comments which I’m sure you already know about but just in case:

  1. Really missed diaganol movement
  2. The music seems to slow down at times or is it just the track?
  3. Could do with a windowed mode (but only cause I like them :))

Brought back some great memories of A link to the past. Look forward to see how the multiplayer works eventually and how you implement it! Melee combat across the internet is notoriously hard.

Nice game

I get a FileNotFoundException when running the game… It can’t find Sprites.dat. But this doesn’t seems to be very important 'cause the game runs like a charm

Link isnt working for me, server appears to be having some issues…

Hosting on my computer at home  Probably was turned off at the time unfortunately

still cant get to it… oh well

neither can I…,Ive tried five times, and I really wanna play this game!

hello, I’m another high school student working on a similar project, so yours obviously interests me  I’m having the same problem as the other people, if you are hosting this on your computer I must not be online at the same time as your or something. So… can you you do one of the following:

  1. host it somewhere else and post a new link ( there are many free web hosting services…)
  2. e-mail it to me at: weston@cyntaks.com
  3. let me know what time you are usualy online so I can try to download it from your old link.

If your interested let me know and I will show you what I am working on as well.

get this game back online already. i want to have a go.

If it’s less than a meg and i like it, i could put the zip on my webspace for you for a while.

I tried sending the guy an e-mail, but my best guess would have to be that his computer achieved conciousness and deleted all record of him on the internet and then exploded… the e-mail didnt go through.
