Amazing… jaw dropped.
BTW when I click on a screenshot all I get is a new blank window. Using Mozilla Firebird.
…
Wow. wishes there was a thumbs up emoticon
Thnx alot
The mozilla bug should be fixed now.
man ! that is great - btw - there seems to be suspicious resemblence amongst those cute savages - are they all siblings? ;D
“cute”? I’m going to have nightmares about clusters of bone-weilding madmen. :o
Wheres the demo???
Yep thats a bunch of mofoes in one screenshot. I’m not sure how I feel about propagating a derogatory stereotype though…
haha jepp my thought too, political correct isn’t the first word that comes to ones mind.
What derogatory stereotype is that?
Not politically correct? Why?
Is the whole world going insane? (don’t answer that one, it will only depress me )
The game looks great.
sigh
That’s one good reason to go with a pure fantasy world. Nobody gets upset by a long-bearded dwarf.
Oi! Some of us short bearded dwarfs do!!! I mean, no one said a dwarf had to have beard.
Free your face! Say no to beards!
Free your face! Say no to beards!
Free your face! Say no to beards!
;D

As I said on the dexterity forums, the game relies on the exaggeration of stereotypes. But there will be other units to make an impression. I’m confident the finished game will not have an issue with angry mobs screaming “racists” at us
Even so, I wouldn’t worry too much about the local headhunter community. They represent a small part of your demographic. Get it… small??
There that should take some of the racist heat away and put it where it belongs… me.
Ever wonder why you can put a stereo type of an annoying white guy in a game (e.g. Leisure Suit Larry) and then people can laugh at the joke and enjoy the game, everything else is offensive…
I wonder about games like Grand Theft Auto… Did they have to make sure that none of the car thieves looked Hispanic or African American? Of course it wasn’t until Tiger Woods become popular that you could choose to play an African American man in any golf games
/me takes mojomonkey’s lead and does his part to redirect the heat
Seriously though. I think what you have so far looks very good. The images have a sort of Black & White feel to them… let’s hope you can get the rest of the game as good and have a big success!
Well the screenshots still doesn’t send political correct signals, and by that I’m not implying that the game is racist or bad in any other ways. I’m simply just saying that the screenshots doesn’t send political correct signals. In these days, for better or worse, that could result in bad media publicity. For example when i was a child you could buy liquorice candy, featuring a picture of a face with that exact stereotype on the wrapping, but that wrapping is long gone now due to the political correctness movement.
On the other hand the game is far from finished and it is of course to early to pass any judgment on the game, besides the screenshots looking beautiful and political incorrect.
If those screen shots aren’t politically correct, then a lot of National Geographic TV shows must be almost illegal.
Add me to the list of people drooling, just waiting for this game to go beta.
Just a quick question… How the [any bad word] do you get the terrain tile textures to look so [another bad word] good? Smooth transitions and big nice patterns in the textures (especially the rocky stuff) etc etc… (I could post a screenshot of my own terrain, but becoming the laughing stock of the entire comunity is not on my TODO-list today)
/M

It can’t be worse than the very VERY tile-based wurm terrain.
