Congratulations to the OddLabs team!
And on gametunnel the title of TT says that it’s been developed in Java, which is good for promoting Java game technologies.
Even more notable; it’s also the only game that’s cross platform on three oses.
Well done!
Congrats to all the folks at Oddlabs.
I can see the trends shifting… slowly… each step like this brings Java game development a little bit closer to the main stream.
Very nice indeed!
Great work.
Even the (PDF) manual is very nice. (Which for many games is a poor cousin usually)
I am very glad to hear this, too! Congrats to the team!
WHOO HOO!
Im going to let a bunc hof folks aroudn Sun know.
Congrats guys, IMHO its well deserved!

Actually Darwinia says theya re too.
BUT it is the only one AFAICS that is cors splatform across all 3 OSes from the original maker.,
Darwinia had to cut in other developers to do the ports from Windows.
Could not agree with you more. I have already e-mailed the Java.Com team and am working to get them a bit more exposure.
Thanks!

(Now we need Wurm to get in these competitions as well
)
Congrats! A very well deserved victory for OddLabs
Greate work and congrats to Oddlabs. You’ve really earned this.
All the Best,

Speaking of Tribal Trouble, i found a review in a german magazine today (Gamestar, Issue 2/2006). It scored 55 out of 100 possible points. They said that it’s easy and cute looking but gets boring pretty soon. The claimed that the AI is stupid and that it’s technically weak. But at least, the review is two pages long…
Cant please all the people all the time.
Yeah, we got a similar review from another german magazine giving it 58/100 or something. Those two reviews was triggered by a press tour of our german publisher, and needless to say, they aren’t selling so well as they would like it to
This is the problem of retail distribution. You’re generally up against art budgets that are 100-1000x what you had to work with and the games they usually play are targetted at machines at least 2 generations ahead of Tribal Trouble. Often it’s a review of the glitz and glamour rather than the gameplay. There’s also a tendency for those journos, who have schedules and deadlines and are forced to play a certain number of games inside a certain amount of time, to be rather jaded and spoiled. It’s like giving fine wine to my father in law - all the nuances are lost on the old drunkard

Well, Gamestar is a bad game mag (there aren’t many anyway but most of them are bad).
In short: they suck.
However if you pay two A4 sized advertisment pages next to the review it usually “improves” the rating… which means Indies have no chance, usually!
This won’t help much to prevent their 55/100 “rating” but well, don’t be sad, they don’t have got a clue.
also to note that its 4th place multiplayer.
ps. tbh the multiplayer setup of trash looks interesting.
