Toys from your childhood.....

List here the toys from your childhood that had the greatest impact on you. Try to steer clear of video games and computers as we all had these (I assume). If possible, provide links to on-line images and/or descriptions.

Some of mine are:

  • Big Traxx - Programmable battle tank that you programmed to move around a room.

  • Dungeons and Dragons Electronic game - handheld LCD game made by Mattel

  • Dark Tower - Board game with an electronic tower in the center. DAMN I should have kept it :frowning: Used sets are selling for $200+ on eBay. Maybe I’ll have to scour some yard sales over the holiday break…

Big Traxx came out after I stopped getting toys. LOL

anyway:

baseball mitt
paper (don’t ask)
six million dollar man set (steve, spaceship, oscar, etc…)
anything with dinosaurs
erector set

the one peice I remember I played with the most…and is probably the drive behind my stuff now was a set with ships, fule canisters, buildings and people that was enough to build a small city on a far away planet. the name is lost on me, but I can still see the pieces in my mind.

Ok, who remembers Construx? Between those and Legos, I could build anything of any size! ;D

Here’s some cool Construx models:

star wars toys

nathan

Big Traxx
Lego (technical & space)
And a cuddly squirrel that I used to whomp my little bro over the head with until all the stuffing ended up in its tail.

Cas

Ninja Turtles
Legos
Erector-Set
Jigsaw-puzzles out the wazoo. My mom couldn’t get me enough of those

Screw Driver, Paper and Glue! Together, you can make anything!

Oh yeah, not forgetting pliers, screws and ALOT of cloth hangers!

oh I forgot the best one of all! Cardboard boxes!

Legos, paper & pen, and dreaming

Chman

Legos, hordes of little plastic soldiers, pen and paper. And off-course the forest, used to spend alot of time there building tree houses, exploring and waging war against kids from other parts of the village :).

Legos (tech, space, trains), matchbox cars, basketball

Lego (this stuff is popular isn’t it)
A set of wooden blocks for some reason
Model Tractors (don’t know why, I guess cos I grew up in the country)
Star wars toys
Transformers
He-man
Radio control car (well I always wanted one does that count?) ditto Scalextrics
AirFix (planes and stuff) models
Games Workshop stuff

I could go on

Dan.

Ps. I’m jealous of everyone that had a Big Traxx!

Hm, I spent my youth in a rowing boat. Thus, I have a lot of muscles … but no brain. It’s a pitty.

oh and Brio train sets! I have lots of those still somewhere  I guess in the attic. Those were great! You could build them up over furniture and all over rooms

Chronological order:

-Board games like clue, masterpiece, monopoly
-Deck of cards Card games like canasta etc…
-War board games, Avalon Hill Feudal, Kriegspiel… SquadLeader, I have at least 30, My favorite memories are here.
-Slot car racing set
-D&D paper rpg
-My 10 speed bike, I would spend 6+ hours out riding ( at the age of 20 I rode from Boston to Oregon)
-Art pad and pencil, I got into the art thing in my late teens

I loved Big Traxx… I wish they would start making them again.

-Mechanno
-Lego (motorized)
-Capsella

-Estes Model Rocket starter kit… and the additional rockets that followed.

-Radio Shack 75 in one electronic project kit.
-Merlin electronic hand held game.

Lego (still have loads of it)
HeMan & Transformers stuff
Games Workshop

But when does childhood stop? Santa gave me Lego last year (yeap a sack and everything, even if I had to put the sack out myself at the same time as putting my 'ickle sisters out)

  • Lego.
I had heaps, but never of the right color. I used to think I was a really talented lego-builder, but it’s recently dawned on me that’s not a real skill.

  • Transformers and He-Man characters, but none of the good ones.
I had BOTH the comet guys, and that crappy he-man with the spinning wheel in his chest with different “damage” levels on it. (you’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen it)

  • Pen and paper roleplaying games.
I never got to play, though, as I always was the GM. Very frustrating.

legos
action figures
remote controlled cars
slingshot w/acorns
sticks

a backyard - ok this is really not a toy, but I often played there  e.g. socker
woodblocks (size around 5520)
Carera - but not very much
I had /still have a lot of legos (a whole cupboard full  ) beginning with the lego train stuff to lego mindstorms (but maybe this is already too much computer  )
