Toby the Duck

Hello JGO,

Today I will show you my game, Toby the Duck. The goal of this game is to move Toby, the duck, around a grassy world. If you touch the coin, it disappears and you get a point. When you get to the portal (the light blue thing), the game tells you that you’ve won. I am working on multiple levels.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I think you need a few more things happening here. Most of the tiles dont seem to interact with the duck (you can move through the dirt blocks).

You can move through dirt blocks? Yikes. What do you mean by ‘more things happening here’?

I can move every where, like into the ground. Only place I can’t move is into the dirt block from the sides or the air space underneath without it just moving me another tile.

I noticed you’re making a lot of small and simple games, and that’s totally OK… I won’t stop you. But maybe it might be an idea to focus on making more complex and well performed games. I, for myself, felt that making bigger projects and facing harder problems improves my skills. (And that’s fairly logical now that I think of it)

But keep going on the good work

This is good advice, but feel free to do what pleases you. I find that if I act on a suggestion of some sort that I don’t really want to do, I end up getting demotivated and not learning anything at all.

Yes! That describes perfectly what I forgot to mention. Slyth is one hundred percent right about this. Don’t feel demotivated by this post, only use this advise when you agree with it.
